    Title:
    Assistant Radiation Safety Officer / RT Technician


    Responsibilities include:

    • Responsible for the execution of BWXT's Radiation Safety Program
    • Identifies radiation safety problems, initiates actions, and ensures compliance with regulations and conditions of BWXT's radioactive material and x-ray licenses.
    • Initiates and files all forms that are associated with the Radiation Safety Program
    • Manages the shipments of survey meters, dosimeters, and area monitors, film badges, and associated reports, as required, for calibration
    • Maintains penetrameter maintenance and calibrations
    • Performs RT upgrades, assembles contract information books, and creates required forms
    • Prepares shooting sketches and applicable reports that are associated with radiographic operations, interprets radiographs for acceptance to contract technical requirements.
    • Manages the filing of all radiographs and prepares radiographs for permanent storage
    • Assists Front Line Manager in the daily prioritization and administrative responsibilities of hourly personnel performing radiographic testing
    • Must be able to pass ANST Industrial Radiography Radiation Safety Program (IRRSP) certification within first year of employment.
    • Must be able to pass Inspector, Radiographer, and ASNT Level II certifications within first year of employment.

    Job Qualifications/Requirements:

    • High school diploma / GED
    • Previous RT experience, or five years relevant NDE experience
    • Strong communication skills
    • Computer savvy with Microsoft Office experience
    • Must able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance
    • Must be able to work overtime, as required

    Position requires U.S.

    Citizenship (with no dual citizenship) and ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation and previous employment reference verifications.
