    The basic function of the Manager
    • Clinical Pharmacy Services position is to plan, develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate clinical pharmacy services at Ellis Hospital.
    These efforts are directed at improving the quality of patient care by optimizing medication therapy outcomes, reducing the length of stay, and conserving drug costs.


    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
    Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.
    D.) Degree from an accredited college of pharmacy required.
    Licensed to practice pharmacy in New York State or eligible for New York State licensure required.
    Clinical pharmacy residency or Board Certified (i.e., BCPS, BCCP), preferred.5 years hospital pharmacy experience, preferred.2 years management experience, preferred.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


    Should be able to push/pull, lift/move 15 lb., be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers.

    Mobility requirements may include the ability to be stationary at a workstation for a prolonged period time in addition to being able to squat or be mobile for a reasonable length of time and distance.

    Communication requirements include the ability to comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to communicate and read the English language.


    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:


    Assure compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations, policies and procedures of Ellis Medicine and standards of affiliated accrediting organizations.

    Assure that company resources are utilized responsibly, and that the working environment is clean, safe and in compliance with required workplace standards.

    Participate in the hiring, on-going development and performance evaluation of pharmacy staff as assigned.
    Develop and implement intra- and inter-departmental policies and procedures and recommend changes where appropriate.
    Communicate relevant departmental information to the nursing and medical staff.

    Participation and oversight as a key member of the Pharmacy & Therapeutics committee is a primary responsibility of the position.

    This will include agenda development, compiling all relevant information and data necessary to inform the medical staff and committee members of the agenda items to be discussed, follow-up and implementation of committee actions.

    Committee responsibilities will include Antimicrobial Stewardship, Patient Safety, Transfusion Committee, Critical Care Committee, Pediatric Cabinet, Opioid Stewardship, and Nutrition Support.

    Oversight of mandated Vaccination Programs in conjunction with Pharmacy PurchaserAssist Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences on-site preceptor with 6th year Doctor of Pharmacy students.

    Understand, utilize, and help maintain the pharmacy department's information systems with the Clinical Informatics Pharmacist to meet the department and institution's goals.

    Understand and maintain all smart infusion technology and drug libraries across all campuses.

    Assist Pharmacy Purchaser with ordering/distributing pharmaceuticals, particularly with attention to medications in short supply, such as those on manufacturer backorder or shortage.

    Coordinate clinical programs with the other Pharmacy Managers and Director to develop, maintain and enhance staff skills and competencies.
    Serve on other committees and projects as appropriate or as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy.
    Meet with Pharmaceutical Sales Representatives as needed.

    Salary Range:
    $58.87-$94.20/hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.#J-18808-Ljbffr
