    JOB PURPOSE:

    The Coordinator oversees the administration of Intramurals, Club Sports, Campus Recreation, Turner Gym and the Drysdale Fitness Center. This will include recreation, fitness, and social programs; hiring, training, evaluating and supervising the student and graduate student staff; as well as managing the daily functions of the two fitness centers.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:(Please describe)

    Advising

  • Coordinator will Hire, train and evaluate student employees for the Turner/Drysdale Fitness Centers, as well as co-advise with Director, Intramural officials and Supervisors.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate the Graduate Assistants for Intramurals & Club Sports.
  • Provides support supervision for the Assistant Director of Campus Rec/ Outdoor Leadership Programs, as it relates to recreational sports and programs. Meeting regularly and providing advising, evaluation, and support.
  • Meet bi weekly with the student IM Supervisors, Club Sport Presidents and Fitness Center Supervisor.
  • Management

  • Oversee and manage the operations of the Turner/Drysdale Fitness Centers, specifically the oversight, upkeep and maintenance requests, as well as inventory management and control.
  • Provide leadership, budget management and strategic planning in the development and implementation of programs designed to provide for the Intramural, club sport, recreational and fitness needs of the campus community.
  • Responsible for maintenance, storage and material check-out for Turner Gym and The Drysdale Fitness Room.
  • Manages the budget for the Turner/Drysdale Fitness Center and Intramural/Campus Recreation, which includes payroll management for student employees.
  • Responsible for marketing and promotion of all Intramural/Club Sport activities, special events, and other recreational opportunities, including the management of the L REC Campus website and other social media outlets.
  • Program and Education

  • Administration of a robust intramural program that covers 3 seasons (fall, winter and spring) and includes: contest scheduling; facility scheduling for all games; education on risk management guidelines, compliance with University policies and procedures, and assistance with fundraising efforts for the program and for teams.
  • Train Intramural officials and supervisors on specific game rules and risk management issues.
  • Attend Intramural Games as needed to oversee proper officiating and execution of games
  • Plan and coordinate all major school Intramural/Club Sport events, such as Turkey Bowl, Disc Golf Tournament and all Club Sport Home Games.
  • Develop a full schedule of gaming competitions, building programs, and other recreational programs.
  • Outreach

  • Coordinate with off-campus facilities times and rental agreements for Club Sports teams.
  • Work alongside Admissions in player recruitment effort, both locally and internationally.
  • Look for local business opportunities that could sponsor Club Sport teams
  • Assessment and Data

  • Maintain data on student participation in Intramurals/Club Sports and other campus recreation programs offered in Turner/Drysdale Fitness Centers.
  • Serve as risk management liaison for Club Sports, Intramural Sports, and the Fitness Centers.
  • Collaboration

  • Working with the Assistant Director of Campus Rec/Outdoor Leadership, establish climbing wall hours and challenge course programs, along with student staff coverage for the campus community throughout the academic year.
  • Serve on the Rivalry Week committee, working with Athletics and the Spirit Committee (SGA, SAB and other leadership groups) to coordinate the half-time activities/events during the "game of the week" and Midnight Madness.
  • Other Duties

  • Serve on University committees as interested, appropriate and/or requested.
  • Perform any other related duties as may be required.
  • Qualifications

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

    The preferred candidate will have two (2) years previous experience in training sports officials, supervising and training student employees, facilities management and planning and implementing sports leagues/tournaments as well as other programming activities. Significant Graduate assistantship and/or internship experience working directly with Intramurals/campus recreation and/or student programming may be substituted on a case by case basis. Knowledge of student development theories and current practices is desired. Availability to work nights and weekends, when needed, in order to ensure a quality student experience is an expectation for the position.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION:

    Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in student personnel administration, higher education, recreation, sports management or related field is required
