    Job Overview

    We are currently looking for a Continuous Improvement Champion to join our wood plant in Holland. The level hired in at will be based on experience.

    As a Continuous Improvement Champion, you will:

    Identify and implement initiatives using principles and continuous improvement process of the Haworth Management System (equivalent to Toyota Production System). Manage projects and assure programs are of high quality. Process work will be required across every segment of value stream. Teach and facilitate lean transformation in both the office and manufacturing environments. Coordinate meetings and Kaizen events for improvements and be involved as both a leader and facilitator, with the overall goal to drive reduction of waste from both process and quality standpoints. Outline and visualize the strategic trajectory of the wood plants operational future

    Do you have these required qualifications?
  • Bachelor's degree or in lieu of degree, 2 years of additional work experience is required for every 1 year of education not completed
  • Minimum 3 years experience in manufacturing/engineering/continuous improvement, with demonstrated deployment of HMS/TPS type concepts that drive improvements in operationally excellent environment
  • Ability to be regularly exposed to manufacturing environment
  • Ability to travel overnight away from corporate offices on occasion in support of other plants or learning opportunities
  • Current and continuing right to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Ability to work and commute onsite daily to our headquarters in Holland, MI without relocation assistance

    Do you have these preferred qualifications?
  • Experience with SAP
  • Lean Certification (Black Belt)

    Ideally, you have also demonstrated the following:
  • Proven leader in successfully managing large numbers of people, projects, resources and complexity, achieving superior results
  • Hands on experience with value stream mapping
  • Experience with product family matrix
  • Mixed Model Value Stream experience
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, facilitation, problem-solving, and planning skills
  • Ability to develop team-oriented environment that fosters problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to present and tour all levels of the organization
  • Have led at least 10 continuous improvement projects and/or formal Kaizen events
  • Development of standard Work and Job Instructions
  • Scientifically guided problem solving, such as Plan Do Check Act methodology, at a project level
  • Kaizen Event planning, facilitation, and follow through
  • Visual factory
  • Work balancing and manufacturing cell design
  • Hands on experience with Toyota Production System (TPS)
