    Summary:

    The faculty member of the College of Nursing contributes to the mission of the college by integrating the roles of teacher, researcher/scholar/clinician, and leader. The details of the faculty's workload distribution will be negotiated with the Chairperson, based on the needs of the College of Nursing, as well as on candidate's expertise and interest. Workload is determined one year in advance and annual reviews are done based on college needs and/or faculty requests.

    Responsibilities:

    Education

    1. Evidence of potential for creative ability as an instructor.

    2. Demonstrates a depth and breadth of clinical knowledge that can be communicated to students in a variety of learning environments.

    3. Facilitates positive learning environment.

    4. Integrates state of the science literature into teaching activities. .

    5. Supports a culturally, racially, and ethnically diverse educational environment.

    6. Supports the college, university and medical center wide interdisciplinary programs.

    Clinical Practice. Research and Scholarship

    1. Actively engages in clinical practice with demonstrated clinical excellence.

    2. Uses research findings to update clinical practice.

    3. identifies researchable problems.

    4. Contributes to established research projects.

    5. Submits materials (articles, media, etc.) for peer-review.

    6. Presents evidence based and/or scholarly papers locally and regionally.

    College and Professional Service

    1. Supports and facilitates the goals of Rush University, the college, and medical center.

    2. Participates on departmental, and college committees and/or task forces.

    3. Active member of local professional organizations.

    4. Shares expertise with community organizations.

    Other information:

    Job Qualifications

    Nurse faculty of a professional nursing program shall have:

    1. A graduate degree in Nursing

    2. Experience in clinical specialty

    3. Current licensure in the State of Illinois. If working remotely, current RN licensure in home state of residence is required.
