Job descriptionPrivate Austin law firm is seeking an associate attorney with 2-5 years' experience in municipal/local government law. Firm served various public entity clients. We work closely with the entity's staff, drafting and reviewing resolutions, ordinances, contracts and other transactional documents, performing legal research on a range of public law topics, and preparing legal memoranda.
Job Requirements
Candidate must possess excellent research, writing, organizational, and communication skills and should demonstrate the ability to work both cooperatively with others and independently, as circumstances demand.
Must show a strong ability to take initiative and problem solve.
Transactional work involving contracts, agreements, leases, easements, municipal ordinances and resolutions.
Complex legal research; analyze and prepare formal legal opinions in response to questions and issues raised by clients.
Review and provide interpretation and opinions relating to legislation and case law directly or indirectly affecting all aspects related to municipal and local government clients.
Some municipal court prosecution will be required.
Candidate must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of Federal and State laws that affect local governmental entities including Constitutional provisions impacting free speech, press, religion, and assembly as well as due process and equal protection. Additional areas requested are zoning and land use, employment laws and personnel matters, utility law and open government laws.
