Job summary:
We are hiring for Direct Support Professionals to support individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities mental health and substance use challenges in their homes and communities.The Behavioral Health Direct Support Professional plays a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health behavioral health challenges in the home and community Working closely with each person the DSP implements tailored services that align with the individual’s goals and desired outcomes In this role the DSP takes the time to understand each person’s unique background including personal history family social connections and future aspirations Guided by supervision direction foster a respectful empowering environment
Responsibilities
- Assists persons receiving services identifying communicating requests needs for services support Promote healthy lifestyle educating wellness practices strategies preventing illness accidents Foster self-advocacy encouraging individual choice decision making aligned personal goals Accompany supports individuals community activities promoting social engagement Teach independent living skills enhancing self-sufficiency daily activities Provide safe reliable transportation appointments engagements Foster positive relationships inclusivity community encouraging integration sense belonging Support guides decision making related living arrangements employment social relationships respecting individual preferences Assist personal care tasks bathing hygiene household chores maintaining comfortable living environment Documenting all provided ensuring accurate records effective communication among support teams Understand unique challenges faced individuals mental health behavioral health utilizing advocacy strategies addressing barriers Connect resources career exploration educational opportunities volunteerism personal growth Promote effective communication interactions respectful clear supportive individual needs Administer medications state regulations safety procedural guidelines Maintain strict confidentiality adhering legal ethical standards Perform additional duties assigned enhancing service quality
