    Summary:

    The Hawaii Pension Processor is responsible for processing pension applications and practices within the office. Will participate in reviewing applications, calculating pension amounts communicate with employers regarding employment information.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Incoming Mail

    • Process incoming mail (requests for forms, lump sum estimates, bank forms, election forms, etc)
    • Send out any forms requested
    • Verify incoming forms for accuracy and return to member with instructions if incomplete

    First Hawaiian Bank

    • Create and send account change notices to FHB
    • Create and send new account notices to FHB
    • Reinstatements
    • Deceased
    • Initials
    • Communicate with FHB

    Pension Applications

    • Create and send employer verification forms to employers (Truckers & Stevedores only)
    • Double check application and documents are complete
    • Pull record of hours from iNavigate/VBAS (for Stevedores)
    • Communicate with employers regarding employment information/hours
    • Calculate pension amounts (including Mandatory 70 adjustments)
    • Send pension calculations to HACI for verification (Hotel & Truckers only)
    • Create & mail out Election Forms once pension calculations have been verified
    • Verify incoming election forms for accuracy, and return to member with instructions if incomplete
    • Calculate retroactive interest for initial pension payment (Hotel & Truckers only)
    • Send retro interest calculations to HACI for verification
    • Prepare & send Summary Analysis to FHB for setting up pension accounts
    • Send members their initial pension payments with award letter
    • Log everything along the way

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

    • Strict attention to detail.
    • Functional understanding of the Accounting process system.
    • PC proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook. knowledge preferred.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong math, problem-solving and analytical skills required.
    • Must be able to follow directions, work with minimal supervision and interact with all departments and levels of management.
    • Knowledge of Union, Trust, Pension and Benefits Industry preferred.
    • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.
    • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
    • Professionalism and respect for co-workers at all times.

    Education and/or Experience: Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 2 to four years related experience in a fast-paced accounting environment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
