    The Chief of Primary Care is the clinical leader responsible for oversight of the primary care resources across all locations of

    Under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, the role supports the provision of medical care services with a focus on health equity and interdisciplinary care

    for a ta

    rget population with extensive health and behavioral health needs

    .

    The position is a part of the senior leadership team

    .

    This position includes the clinical care responsibilities of Internal Medic

    ine/Family Practice Physician

    .

    The position is

    full time

    with two days of administrative time.
    Clinical Care
    Assures that primary medical care meets the standard of care

    .

    Keeps up to date on treatment guidelines.
    Assists

    in developing and overseeing clinical workflows and protocols.
    Committed to patient safety and the concepts of a patient centered medical home

    .

    Promotes clinical quality and customer service. Responsible for assuring the quality and efficiency of care provided by the Primary Care clinical staff. Monitors care delivery through standardized metrics

    and peer review

    .
    Committed to team-based care and works collaboratively with other disciplines (behavioral health, pharmacy, nursing,

    dental,

    etc.) and other staff.
    Serves as an instructor, role model, and resource for

    students, residents, volunteer practitioners, and

    member of the team

    .
    Ensures

    appropriate documentation

    of services by medical team

    .
    Acts as the collaborating physician to primary care nurse practitioners.
    Risk Management and Regulatory Compliance
    Ensures that the medical work force

    complies with

    the requirements of regulatory bodies and licensing bodies including CMS and HRSA/BPHC

    .

    Knowledgeable about the Federal Tort Claims Act.
    Knowledgeable about accreditation standards for supervised area

    .

    Fully

    participates

    in surveys and readiness activities.
    Conducts periodic program evaluation and addresses problem areas.

    Participates in risk management programs on a regular basis.
    Supports

    the

    privileging

    and peer review process in compliance with health center policies.

    Coordinates with other team members to ensure process improvements with respect to medical intake, follow-ups, referrals, patient care protocols, department workflow.

    Operations, Staffing and Workflow
    Works closely with

    Chief of Health Care Operation and other leadership to assure excellence in clinical quality and customer service.
    Determines

    patient

    capacity

    and monitors provider caseloads in Medical Department.
    Assists

    in the development of the annual budget for Primary Care.
    In collaboration with Human Resources and the Chief Medical Officer

    is responsible for

    adequate staffing, orientation, scheduling,

    supervision

    and

    recordkeeping

    .

    Participates in hiring process for Medical and other clinical departments, as appropriate

    .
    Conducts regular and

    timely

    performance evaluations of medical

    staff, and

    incorporates goal setting into the development and evaluation process.
    Understands the core functions of the electronic health record

    and recommends improvements in documentation.
    Communication, Leadership and Teamwork
    Promotes effective

    communication within and

    between departments through teamwork and coordination of care with other healthcare team members

    .

    Organizes departmental meetings and agendas for supervised area.
    Attends senior leadership, departmental and staff meetings

    .

    Contributes to departmental and organizational decision-making through active participation

    .

    Works effectively and positively with co-workers and volunteers

    Job Qualifications

    MD/DO Degree, Board certified and licensed MD/DO in good standing in the State of Ohio (or eligible for reciprocity), Board certification in family medicine or internal medicine.

    Ambulatory experience in a community setting and/or behavioral health integration preferred
    Eligible for academic appointment at local medical school preferred
    Unrestricted DEA Registration
    ACLS, CPR and First Aid Certification
    Five or more years clinical practice experience preferred with

    demonstrated

    supervisory and leadership experience
    Experience in one or more of the following areas: Adult Medicine; Family Medicine; HIV/AIDS; Behavioral Health; Pediatrics
    Experience

    in team based interdisciplinary care preferred
    Teaching experience preferred
    Knowledgeable in the use of electronic health records; Epic preferred.

    ravel within the Cleveland area regularly each week for work at each assigned

    sites

    , supervision, and clinical needs

    Occasional overnight travel for educational offering.
