- Assists the pharmacist in the processing and filling of prescriptions and medication/medical supply orders. Reviews and enters orders & patient information into the pharmacy computer system. Processes and assists in the maintenance of pharmacy inventory. Performs sales transactions and provides customers/patients with information about medications, health insurance, and other health care related services. Files third-party insurance claims on paper and electronically.
- Operates various office/pharmaceutical equipment such as typewriter, computer, copier, fax, telephones, calculator, cash register, dispensing machines, etc.
- Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
- Some exposure to cold temperature from freezer.
- Exposure to noise/vibration from office/pharmacy equipment.
- Exposure to body fluids, chemicals and contact with patients with communicable diseases.
- Work environment is fast paced, crowded and may be stressful.
- Completion of pharmacy technical program or on-the-job education/pharmacy work experience, preferred.
- One (1) year work experience, preferably as pharmacy technician/clerk.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge to handle cash transactions.
