    JOBPURPOSE:


    Performing patientassessments, general respiratory care procedures and protocols,critical care procedures in adult care areas, blood gas analysis,maintenance and management of all equipment and patienteducation.

    Qualifications:


    MINIMUMEDUCATION REQUIRED:

    Associates Degree inRespiratory TherapySciences


    MINIMUM EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:

    None.


    MINIMUMLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BYLAW:

    Credentialed by the National Board forRespiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) andLicensed by the State of Georgia under the Composite State Board ofMedical Examiners.


    ADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS:

    Current certifications inBCLS, ACLS. Must be actively practicing and maintaining allrequired competencies. One (1) year of experience in performingprofessional respiratory dutiespreferred.


    KEYRESPONSIBILITIES:


    • Performs basic patientassessments.
    • Performs advanced patientassessments.
    • Ensures documentation.
    • Administers medication.
    • Proficient in arterial bloodgas/ co-oximetry, interpreting and reporting ofresults.
    • Inserts, maintains, and documents arteriallines per protocol.
    • Ensures basic airway management andclearance.
    • Ensures advanced airway management andclearance.
    • Initiates, monitors and manages invasivemechanical ventilation.
    • Initiates, monitors andmanages non-invasive positive pressure ventilation.
    • Performs special procedures.
    • Safeguards patient careequipment and maintains fiscal responsibility
    • Contributes to quality and outcomes.
    • Functions aspreceptor

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS,ABILITIES
    Skill and ability to communicateeffectively both verbally and in-writing.
    Good verbal andwritten communication skills.
    Excellent clinical decisionmaking skills and critical thinking to assess patientcare.
    Proficiency with Windows-based computerapplications and emailing.
