    $47,000 - $52,000 annuallySince 1985, Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless has dedicated its mission exclusively to providing services to people experiencing homelessness. AHCH provides a distinctive continuum of integrated care through outreach and site-based services to address the health-related causes and consequences of homelessness. Our vision is to live in a world that is just and without homelessness. We believe that homelessness is an issue that can be solved through access to quality health care, adequate and affordable housing, and a living wage.

    The Grant Writer position is responsible for development of written proposals to support the annual operational planning and business model viability of Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless.

    This position directly reports to the Chief Operations Officer.


    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Initiate and coordinate the grants process to ensure high quality, competitive applications are submitted complete and on timeGenerate high-quality proposals, narrative, applications and supporting documentations in response to solicitations consistent organizational policies and procedures and the requirements and guidelines of the prospective funding agencyCollaborate with team members to capture the pragmatic or administrative deliverables and experience necessary to develop a compelling grants applicationResearch and identify new government, corporate, foundation and private funding prospects to match organizational prioritiesOversee grants management tracking system to record prospective, submitted, and approved grants and associated timelines and requirements to ensure greatest potential in receiving and sustaining fundingCoordinate grant reporting requirements with the AHCH Data Manager and Programs LeadershipDevelop and maintain grant templates and materialsMaintain a comprehensive, shared file of all documentation prepared and/or received as part of the grants and awards management processEnsure professional and confidential management of grant records, organizational documents, and data that align with organizational policy and legal regulationsStudy the organizational history, structure, objectives, programs, and financial needs of the organization to best represent our model to prospective and current fundersServe as a secondary liaison to funders during the COOs absenceAttend networking meetings and events with prospective funders to represent the organizationComply with all AHCH policies and proceduresOther duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications:
    Grant writing experience, preferably in a health organizationProven track record of securing new funding opportunitiesExcellent knowledge of proposal submission and fundraising processProven record of securing large public (city, county, state, federal) awardsHave ability to tie grant funding to strategic priorities and communicate the connection to broad range of staff and community partnersFamiliarity with programs and processes of primary granting agencies, including federal agencies as well as corporate and private sponsorsHave keen attention to detail and strong editingAbility to work effectively under strict deadlinesExcellent writing and verbal skillsHigh level of organization and the ability to implement and follow-up processesMotivated self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively or independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environmentThree years of experience in grant writingBachelors degree in English, Communications, Writing, or relevant degree or commensurate relevant work experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Masters degree in English, Communications, WritingFive years of experience in grant writingA proven record of securing major grants with certifiable referencesKnowledge of grant application process, scoring criteria and funding cyclesPrevious federal grant application, submission, approval and management of funds experienceBilingual speakers, Spanish speakers, People of Color, LGBTQIA+, veterans, persons with disabilities, and women encouraged to apply.
