    The IT Director, Business Relationship Management serves as a primary point of contact for the Business with IT Programs/Portfolios. The IT Director, Business Relationship Management is the primary relationship owner and the IT planning lead for business customer(s) and is the conduit through which business priorities and needs are communicated and incorporated within the overall IT plan and standards. The IT Director, Business Relationship Management is also accountable for the intake of new capability requests as well as an escalation of issues in current capabilities. The incumbent will be the primary liaison for all IT projects that impact the supported business divisions. The IT Director, Business Relationship Management will also be responsible for development and execution of the IT governance processes at the Group and Division/Regional level. The IT Director, Business Relationship Management will develop and publish the Group/Division IT Strategy (for the supported areas) and document key business initiatives and the IT strategy required to support the business.

    The primary responsibility of the role is to partner with the Business function areas, IT executives, Enterprise Architecture (EA), IT Leaders and Project teams, Business Process and Business Planning leaders to create an actionable roadmap for the work IT teams will deliver. The IT Director, Business Relationship Management must navigate cross-functionally with executive leadership in pursuit of demand management, resource alignment, and solutions delivery. The IT Director, Business Relationship Management is the representative of the business partners to the IT organization for the realization of business value through IT Delivery. The role provides thought leadership on industry trends and innovation opportunities for their respective business areas to be incorporated into future capabilities. A successful IT Director, Business Relationship Management will need to have a strong understanding of business processes across sales management, customer service, S&OP, process manufacturing plus formulation and regulatory processes across Sherwin Williams or the coatings industry.

    Essential Functions

    Strategy and Planning

    • Key participant in enterprise and IT Planning.
    • Collaborates with Business Stakeholders and IT Senior Management to assure alignment to goals.
    • Provides consistent architectural standards, develops business system strategies and implementation roadmaps.
    • Oversee both business unit strategy as well as developing deep domain knowledge to assist business in driving strategic initiatives
    • Understands business imperatives/new capability needs and ability to map to existing IT architecture or work with cross functional teams to determine new IT architectural needs
    • Prepares annual and strategic project budgets to support executive level plans.
    • Analyzes project financial performance and variances
    • Partner with business unit leadership regarding risks, objectives and process improvements.
    • Review and analyze existing control effectiveness and develop strategies for improving or leveraging new business requirements.
    • Oversee detailed research of vendor products and assists with general project management.
    • Provide direction, development, and implementation of software solutions.
    • Participate in regular planning sessions to ensure alignment of resources and IT strategy
    • Actively engage business management to ensure business needs and expectations are met.
    • Develop wants/needs for the annual budgeting process in projects, operations and support.
    • Provide insight and recommendations on the competitive landscape and business drivers.
    • Partner with Enterprise Architects to identify new ways to solve business problems.
    • Participate in the identification and documentation of gaps between business needs and future IT capabilities (effort ideation).
    • Determine staffing and skills requirements.
    • Lead and develop a team of Business Relationship Managers and Business Analysts
    Acquisition and Deployment
    • Assist the business and applications teams in alignment of key projects
    • Evaluates project requirements and project scoping
    • Set goals and objectives for support activities within that are aligned with the Business Stakeholders needs.
    • Provide transparency into IT investment mix to ensure alignment with business objectives.
    Operational Management
    • Engages with Business Stakeholders to develop and document the requirements and manage the development, delivery and ongoing support via the IT development organization and its supporting vendor partners.
    • Development to initiation for new projects that are key to sales
    • Develop BRD metrics for each supported division and group, Publish these metrics on a quarterly basis
    • Develop the allocation of IT resources for each Group/Division within the area of responsibility
    • Develop and publish resource shortfalls (personnel and software) that are required to support the business groups
    • Ensure the "Definition of Success" For each division/group is understood and integrated into the project planning and execution
    • Research, consolidate and maintain the list of "shadow" IT support for each supported Group/Division and drive to ensure these spend are managed through the correct IT support processes and included in the annual IT budgeting process
    • Provides leadership and mentorship to develop high performance teams. Implements management metrics to support goal achievement.
    • Develop management dashboards to ensure tasks are completed timely and effectively
    • Work with IT personnel to insure alignment with complimentary projects
    • Develop solutions to leverage IT application functionality for supported applications and suggest improvements.
    • Communicate effectively, improve relationships, and manage customers cross functionally
    • Participate in global steering committees, preparing and presenting to leadership for the company.
    • Ensure timely remediation of system issues
    • Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel.

    Incidental Functions

    • Prepare and lead presentations as requested.
    • Research or prototype new tools and/or technologies.
    • Lead internal teams/task forces on initiatives as assigned.
    • Assist with other projects as necessary to contribute to efficiency and effectiveness of the work.

    Formal Education & Certification

    • Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) or in lieu of a degree, at least 12 years of experience in the field of Information Technology or Business (work experience or a combination of education and work experience in the field of Information Technology or Business)..
    • Master's degree preferred.
    • BRMP, PMP, Six Sigma, ITIL certifications preferred.

    Knowledge & Experience

    • 12+ years of IT experience.
    • 10+ years management or Enterprise Department experience.; a combination of staff, budgets and/or company assets.
    • 8+ years of experience managing direct reports.
    • Enterprise department manager/budget responsibility preferred.
    • 6+ years developing and implementing information technology systems.
    • 6+ years of progressive experience as a BRM, IT manager, Business manager, Program manager, Lead Portfolio Manager or Lead Project Manager leading large IT Projects, Portfolios and/or Programs with matrixed project/program teams.
    • 5+ years of solutions or business domain experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
    • Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and/or Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) process experience preferred.
    • Experience collaborating with design/development teams, internal and/or external.
    • Experience delivering programs on scope, on time, on budget and expected quality and benefit to the customer and end users.
    • Strong experience in project management and system architecture methodologies(preferred)
    • Experience analyzing functional system requirements and designing and developing solutions that fulfill business requirements.
    • Knowledge/Exposure of Sherwin Williams Consumer Business Group operations (preferred)
    • Experience applying comprehensive information technology management principles and practices.
    • Proven ability to translate strategic directives into tactical initiatives.
    • Proven ability to understand the underlying business model and influence others to resolve IT issues, follow through on improvement opportunities, solutions and plans.
    • Well versed in Microsoft Office applications.
    • Demonstrated skill with presentation and communication tools such as MS PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
