    About: The Metropolitan Police Employee Assistance Program (MPEAP) is a confidential outpatient counseling program serving the Metropolitan Police Department's (MPD) sworn members and their spouses/significant others. The MPEAP offers accessible counseling services with therapists trained to work with law enforcement officers. Services address a range of clinical issues including, but not limited to family, marital, and relationship problems, depression & anxiety, grief & loss, critical incidents, and exposure to trauma, job stress, and alcohol problems. The profession of law enforcement places officers at an increased risk for trauma-related sequelae. The MPEAP provides professional care to help members manage these impacts both on and off the job.

    Status: Full-time position for licensed therapist in outpatient program/Employee Assistance Program for law enforcement officers and their spouses/significant others.

    Qualifications:

    • Ph.D., Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, LCSW-C, or LPC
    • Must be licensed in the District of Columbia
    • 3-5 years' experience providing direct psychotherapy services
    • Possess a valid drivers license and vehicle
    • Live within 30 miles of the District of Columbia
    • Successfully pass background and criminal checks

    Job Description:

    • Intake assessments, long-term and brief psychotherapy, critical incident debriefing, individual, and couples' therapy.
    • Knowledge and training in trauma and addictions is a plus.
    • Position requires minimum of one week per month "On Call" duties to respond to critical incidents/client emergencies during and after business hours.
    • The candidate must possess a strong work ethic, and sensitivity to a multicultural work setting.
    • Strong clinical skills and the ability to work with a range of clinical presentations.
    • The program is collaborative and congenial with a small staff. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with peers.
    • 40-hour work week on-site
