As a Barclays Software Tools Engineer, you will be developing a number of applications in the Developer Tooling product within the Chief Technology Office product set. This will involve playing a part in architecture, design, implementation, deployment, maintenance, observation, and support of Developer Tooling applications from inception through to realized business value. The Developer Tooling applications aim to improve the procurement and delivery of tools required by application developers to build and release their code.

What will you be doing?
• Designing, developing, and maintaining Go CLI application for delivering software tools to Barclays developer devices
• Integrating backend API services for with CLI components, written in Go and Java, deployed in a Redhat OpenShift environment
• Standardizing the ingestion and packaging of developer tooling related to major languages, cloud and modern application development with automated pipelines
• Creating and managing GitLab/Jenkins CI/CD pipelines for building, testing, scanning and deploying of developed applications
• Containerizing IDE license server components for efficient deployment and management in Redhat OpenShift environment
• Developing IDE extension/plugin internal marketplace for controlled and secure availability to Barclays developers
• Determining proactively solutions to improve developer productivity with applications and automation solutions delivered
• Performing hands-on implementation of changes from creating solution and writing code to delivering release into production
What we're looking for:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field involving software/systems engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• High degree of fluency and practical recent experience developing software applications in Go (Golang) and/or Java programming languages
• Solid grasp, technical skills, and proven experience of CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins or GitLab
• Knowledge and experience of application containerization, building images from Docker files and running containers, management of images and tags in container registries, etc
Skills that will help you in the role:
• High degree of fluency and practical experience of writing and building applications in Java and .NET or other complimentary OOP languages
• Experience with hosting applications on either of these platforms: Kubernetes, Redhat OpenShift, AWS ECS/Fargate/EKS
• High degree of fluency and practical recent experience using technologies like (but not limited to) Javascript, TypeScript, React or Angular
• Experience with developing applications that contin a SQL database tier, ideally MS SQL and Postgres
