    GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Director of Nurses (DON) will serve as manager for all nurses and nursing-related activities in the Crisis Residential Program.

    The main function of this position is to provide direction to all the RNs and LVNs working in the CRUs, and to manage the medical services at the Crisis facilities.

    Under the oversight of the Director of Crisis and the Medical Director, the DON will be responsible for:

    recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training nursing staff, continuing education, overseeing quality assurance, productivity, medication inventory, expenditures, assisting the Medical Director as appropriate.

    He/she will provide after-hour consultations as needed for the Crisis Residential Units.

    The main headquarters for this position is Lytle, Texas; however, this position includes bi-monthly travel to Eagle Pass for hands-on management there.

    There may be occasional working of flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to cover the unit.

    The DON must be available by telephone after hours to answer questions from nurses at the crisis center, and to staff cases with the crisis workers.

    The DON must work closely with the Director of Crisis and must realize that each admission is judged on a case-by-case basis.

    Flexibility is necessary in this positionthe DON will be expected to perform extra duties as needed, which includes nursing duties or crisis duties.

    Medical questions will be handled by the Medical Director and the DON; however, the final decision for admission is reserved for the Director of Crisis.

    MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:


    RN with Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing and 4 years of recent nursing experience as a registered nurse in a recognized health agency, hospital, or health care facility, and at least 2 years supervisory experience in a medical setting.

    Recent nursing experience must be within the past 6 years.

    OR,RN with an Associate Degree in nursing and 6 years of recent nursing experience as a registered nurse in a recognized health agency, hospital, or health care facility, with at least 1-year supervisory experience in a medical setting.

    Recent nursing experience should be within the past 8 years. Current license to practice as an RN in the state of Texas without restrictions or limitations. Work experience using Microsoft applications such as Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point.


    PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
    Experience in the mental health field as well as experience in a community and inpatient setting. Experience with population health data systems. Experience with nursing care and management of chronic health conditions. Prefer experience with the Integrated Behavioral Health Primary Care concept. Prefer experience with a psychiatric inpatient program. Demonstrate ability to read, write and speak English. Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.


    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    Knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques, and practices of counseling and diagnostic impression, functioning of mental health hospitals and/or out-patient mental health clinics.

    Knowledge of the techniques, procedures and methods utilized in psychiatric nursing. Ability to access and evaluate requirements for mental health services, including completion of physical and mental health assessments. Knowledge of mental health rules and regulations. Ability to maintain control of drugs and medications.

    Ability to record all care information accurately, completely, and in a timely manner in the appropriate format on the appropriate forms.

    Able to direct care provided by other providers including RNs, LVNs, resident assistants, etc. Perform appropriate interventions as ordered by physician; ability to communicate effectively with staff physicians.

    Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other professional groups; exercise tact, initiative, and good judgement when dealing with people; prepare reports and recommendations for administrative use; communicate effectively, using both oral and written communication.

    Knowledge of the needs and characteristics associated with the target population. Knowledge of local community resources, how to access those services and use them effectively. Skills in performing assessments and ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to work independently, organize work efficiently, and respond to the changing need of the individual. Ability to work in crisis stabilization. Ability to advocate for consumers and identify problems/gaps in service. Ability to work under conditions requiring physical stamina and the ability to work in a stressful work environment. Possession of excellent customer service skills, for both internal and external customers. Knowledge of Camino Real Community Services. Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to apply and integrate theory, knowledge, values and practices of social work, crisis intervention and substance use. Ability to relate to individuals from a variety of age, sex, economic and educational/cultural backgrounds. Knowledge of nursing principles and techniques. Ability to assess symptoms and reactions to medications. Ability to recognize indications of medical emergencies and respond appropriately.

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    This is a mid- level position focused on heath information data. Performs routine health data work, which involves gathering, storing, analyzing, interpreting, and managing patient data. Duties include day-to-day monitoring of data using various platforms. Performs administrative support and technical program assistance work for the Executive Director.

    Work includes preparing routine and special reports, monitoring various databases and being part of a team who manages reports and information for the company.

    This role is crucial to support various programs in enhancing service delivery and staff productivity.

    Works with the Health Informatics Specialist and Data Support Specialist by researching and preparing reports related to consumer services and company performance.

    May develop and present training materials to staff.

    May provide support to the Chief Clinical Officer and the Medical Director by researching and preparing reports related to aspects of clinical and/or medical services.

    Must be able to work in a stressful environment and multi-task. This position will be under the direct supervision of the Executive (or designee).


    MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
    Graduation from an accredited high school or GED, plus three (3) years work experience. Two years of experience with health data. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other databases (aptitude test may be administered).


    PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
    Demonstrated ability to read, write and speak English and Spanish. Three (3) years work experience in a fast-paced customer service environment.
