    Candidate must have a solid understanding, experience, and demonstrated results of working with Fresh/Shelf Stable Salsas, Sauces or other similar products. A good match would be someone working in soups, chunky salsas, or tomato based formulated products like pasta sauce, chili sauce, cocktail sauce. They do not necessarily have to be hot-fill-hold, although that would be ideal, as long as they involve batching formulations similar to our facility rather than liquids like juices.

    Summary

    Conduct verification and maintenance of the food safety and quality systems, hazard analysis and sanitation processes, prerequisite programs, manufacturing processes, plant environment and finished product. Collaborates with operations on the initiation of corrective action and preventative measures when necessary.

    Essential Job Responsibilities

    Supervise and train QC Lab Technician and QC Line Technicians on multiple production lines, performing food safety and quality inspections as needed, compliance control, and document review.

    Conduct verification and maintenance of the food safety and quality systems, hazard analysis and sanitation processes, prerequisite programs, manufacturing processes, plant environment and finished product.

    Collaborates with operations on the initiation of corrective action and preventative measures when necessary.

    Conduct routine and non-routine inspection/analysis of in-process materials, raw materials, manufacturing equipment, and finished goods.

    Calibrate, verify proper operation, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.

    Compile laboratory test data, perform appropriate analysis, and file data, charts, and reports.

    Review and prepare paperwork as needed for state inspector evaluation.

    Complete and maintain documentation needed to support testing procedures including but not limited to calibration logbooks and chemical/lab supply inventory records.

    Review analytical methods and procedures to recommend how they might be improved.

    Identify quality issues, recommend solutions and supervise implementation of new methods.

    Interpret test results, compare them to established specifications and control limits, and report results to QC Manager for decisions based on data for disposition of finished products, work in progress or ingredients.

    Communicate findings and decisions to QC Manager in a timely manner.

    Conduct pre-op and gather and analyze data as needed.

    Cover QC Receiving and QC Tech position as needed.

    Education and Experience:

    Bachelor's degree in /food Science, Technology or another related field.

    3 years experience in QC or QA Supervisor role in food safety manufacturing required.

    • Experience with BRC or other GFSI audit is required.

    Qualifications

    • Strong knowledge of food safety related programs (HACCP, FSP, GMP, Allergens, SOPs, Pre-Op, prerequisite programs).
    • Ability to adhere to standard laboratory protocols and test methods

    Advanced Microsoft Office Applications

    Familiar with sending End of Shift or other departmental communications

    • Ability to train and guide others.
    • Ability to work in a group setting and collaborate with others on duties and schedules.
    • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to work with limited direction; self-motivated.
    • Communication skills in English (speak, read and write); in Spanish (speak, read and write).

    Work Environment and Physical Demands:

    This job requires working in an open material-moving equipment. Includes exposure to sounds and noise level that are distracting or uncomfortable. Requires working in a hot environment (above 90 degrees F) or very cold (below 32 degrees F). Requires working in extremely bright lighting conditions. Job tasks are performed in close physical proximity to other people. Standing for long periods of time. The individual should have the ability to stand or walk for the duration of the shift. Must be able to lift 30lbs periodically. Requires sitting, bending, twisting, walking, repetitive movement, climbing stairs, and standing, using hands to manipulate/control/inspect objects, tools or controls throughout the shift. Requires exposure to hazardous equipment.
