    POSITION SUMMARY:

    This position is responsible for the management and supervision of the Analyst Support unit at the Orlando Regional Operations Center. The incumbent will be responsible for supervising criminal analysis functions through the collection, analysis, and dissemination of confidential criminal investigative and intelligence information.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Specific duties include:

    • Leading a team of regional analysts including coordination of training, scheduling, task delegation, and other administrative functions;
    • Coordinating the analysis and dissemination of information and intelligence from various agencies, the public, and other sources;
    • Promoting these sources to maintain the exchange of pertinent information among law enforcement agencies;
    • Supervising the development and progress of detailed research relating to organized crime, terrorism, and professional criminals;
    • Supervising the coordination of inter-state and intra-state information exchange pertaining to criminal activity and criminal movement;
    • Supervising the development of charts and activity maps regarding criminal activity, and the development of graphs and illustrations depicting the structure and interconnection of organized criminal groups and associates;
    • Supervising preparations of oral briefings, written reports, and recommendations in the form of intelligence assessments, and detailed factual reports used by agency management to evaluate investigative priorities incase development;
    • Supervising and provides in-service training to analytical personnel and makes recommendations concerning such personnel pertaining to their retention, promotion and discipline;
    • Working closely with the regional law enforcement community to ensure the appropriateness and effectiveness of shared information; and
    • Supervising the coordination of background investigations for vendors and non-sworn employees.

    To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and five years of analytical experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or investigative experience in a law enforcement agency.
    2. A master's degree in criminology, law enforcement intelligence analysis, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis or comparable discipline; or a professional certificate in one of these disciplines can substitute for one year of the required experience.
    3. Any combination of education or experience, as described above.
    4. Vocational/technical training in the area of law enforcement, or college coursework from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 720 classroom hours per year for the required education.

    Completion of the FDLE Law Enforcement Analyst Academy (FLEAA) within two years of hire date.

    Note: 30 semester hours, or equivalent, of coursework from an accredited college or university is equivalent to one year of experience.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication;
    • Knowledge of the criminal justice system;
    • Knowledge of the methods of data collection;
    • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data;
    • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques;
    • Ability to operate computers and other office equipment;
    • Ability to monitor criminal justice information activities;
    • Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments; and
    • Ability to communicate effectively.

    BASE SALARY:

    • $65,000.00

    NOTES:

    Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
