    About the position This position is responsible for safe handling, storing, and shipping of specialty chemicals in packages (totes, drums) or bulk containers. The Material Handler will be responsible for many functions within materials management that support the safe overall handling, storing, and shipping of specialty chemicals.

    Essential Job Responsibilities:

    • Ability to safely operate a Forklift truck.
    • Must be able to calculate weights and measures as it relates to warehousing, receiving and shipping of materials.
    • Properly Unload and Load Bulk Trucks.
    • Properly Unload and Load Non-bulk/Packaged Trucks.
    • Properly select and stage finished product for shipment.
    • Properly select and prepare raw materials and containers for production.
    • Knowledge and ability of how to secure packages to handling units (pallets) (banding machine use and order preparation)
    • Basic knowledge of labeling individual packaging and DOT certification
    • Must be able to document activities such as work completed or pre-shipment inspection observations on forms or work orders using legible handwriting and understandable writing.
    • Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished both in written or oral form.
    • Must have basic computer skills with ability to complete computer training and learn limited ERP system transactions to facilitate receiving and shipping materials.
    • Must be able to read, understand and follow all safety rules, company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
    • Must understand and comply with all work permit requirement scenarios.
    • Complete housekeeping duties and area tasks as directed to ensure compliance to operating permits.
    • Conduct all tasks in a safe manner and utilize the prescribed personal protective equipment for tasks.
    • Understand when and how to report incidents/accidents.
    • Annual and periodic inventory cycle counting.

    Requirements

    • High School Diploma or GED required.
    • Forklift Truck operation experience required.
    • 5+ years' experience working in processing or general batching industry preferred.
    • Willing to cooperate in a team, share responsibilities, take direction from others, and train fellow employees when needed.
    • Ability to plan and organize multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
    • Possess good mathematical, problem solving and computer skills.
    • Successful completion of the company's pre-employment process which includes a drug screen, criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
