- Coordinate donated and purchased food for nutrition program
- Ensure food offerings are high quality and nutrient-rich
- Create recipes using shelf stable ingredients
- Maintain a stocked food pantry
- Pick up food donations (as needed)
- Train and supervise kitchen volunteers
- Cook nutritious meals with volunteers (as needed)
- Facilitate quarterly meetings with kitchen volunteers
- Build and maintain relationships with community food partners (local businesses, nonprofits, mutual aid groups)
- Coordinate with volunteers who pick up food donations in collaboration with Volunteer & Academic Program Director
- Maintain Kitchen Guide with general kitchen duties and protocols
- Maintain records regarding food production, inventory, supplies, and meal counts
- Ensure program follows proper sanitation and safety standards and is point of contact for kitchen inspections
- Maintain current food handlers card and ensure kitchen volunteers maintain current food handlers card
- Procure meals for annual guest celebrations
- Provide catering and supplies for development department events (with volunteer support)
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced, flexible environment
- Strong culinary knowledge and ability to cook creatively with varying food donations
- Experience working with a limited food budget
- Clear understanding of food safety guidelines, and ability to uphold these standards
- Knowledge of dietary restrictions and the ability to come up with menus accordingly
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to to work with volunteers with varying degrees of kitchen experience and backgrounds
- Advanced customer service skills
- Strong supervisory skills
- Excellent communication skills for conversing with donors, volunteers, guests and staff

We offer low-barrier services in a brand new trauma-informed space to guests who trust us and value their relationships with our community of staff, interns and volunteers.
The Nutrition Coordinator plays a vital role at Rose Haven and is responsible for providing meals to more than 4,000 of our guests experiencing homelessness and poverty.
Rose Haven takes pride in securing donated and purchased foods to create nutritious food that honors the dietary needs of all guests.
This position procures donations, plans menus, and oversees kitchen volunteers responsible for the majority of cooking and food service.Nutrition Program Coordination
Compensation and Benefits
$24 per hour
Rose Haven offers 100% employer-covered medical, vision, alternative care, and dental benefits, as well as two buy-up plan options. After 90 days of employment, a 3% matching 401k option is available.
Rose Haven recognizes 10 paid holidays and 1 floating holiday, and has a practice of closing for 2 one-week periods during the year for staff wellness (with pay).
Vacation and sick time begin accruing immediately, and vacation accrual increases with longevity. A professional development stipend is available to all staff.Additional Compensation of $1.
00 per hour for:
Rose Haven operates services on the main floor. Entrances vary from 0-3 stairs, with one staircase between the main floor and basement (where guest supplies are stored). Noise level in the building often fluctuates with direct service delivery. Lifting of 0-30 pounds and moving supplies or furniture may occasionally be requested. Parking pass provided.
