    POSITION OVERVIEW

    Reporting to the President and CEO, the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications will think strategically and have a passion for detailed marketing execution. The Senior Director of Marketing and Communications will collaborate with neighborhood centers, innovative social enterprises, advancement, and HR to comprehensively market the organization to the appropriate audiences. This role will develop visionary and compelling marketing to drive brand awareness, differentiation, affinity, and preference.

    Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

    Strategy and thought leadership
    • Create and sustain agency vision
    • Generate solutions and lead strategic innovation that straddles the entire agency by working across the organization with key leaders and community to drive the work of storytelling and organizing strategy
    • Develop content strategy that positions Pillsbury United as a strategic leader in human services
    • Leverage a variety of internal and external channels to amplify content and messages
    • Develop and execute content plans and assets including articles, videos, visual infographics, etc.
    • Lead the policy agenda on a city, county, and state level to generate awareness and support
    Operations and outcomes
    • Analyze data, trends, & needs for communications and marketing
    • Define goals for marketing & communications teams, as well as policy team
    • Create processes + systems to drive change.
    • Assess + report impact to inform strategy
    • Enhance website, digital, social media, and email campaigns
    • Ensure the brand promise, positioning, and identity are consistent across all touch points
    • Ensure competitive differentiation and drive consumer consideration, choice, preference, and loyalty
    • Use consumer insights, segmentation, trends and data to drive decisions
    People and community development
    • Build networks
    • Inspire action
    • Model culture
    • Oversee and lead a cross-agency team(s) of leaders and initiatives
    • Provide leadership that inspires program staff to embrace and implement PUC's mission, vision and values in their work
    • Work closely with programs, development, and HR department in the development of effective recruitment approaches that attract and retain the best talent
    • Oversee the marketing & communications department
    • Oversee the policy team and the efforts to identify, build, and prioritize key voices needed in advocacy campaigns
    Financial Management
    • Full responsibility to develop/manage agency-wide or departmental budgets across multiple functions or impact areas
    • Steward and solicit funders
    • Identify new revenue and lead proposal applications.
    Required Skills/Experience
    • 10+ years of relevant work experience

    • Strategic ability to shift and refine messages for different audiences without compromising core values
    • Excellent writing ability, communicator and storyteller; ability to make Pillsbury's work come alive through top-quality written materials, stories, and digital engagement
    • Strong staff and program management skills, including experience supervising staff at different levels and across functional areas
    • Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills; relationship-builder. Ease relating to diverse individuals including those who don't agree with us
    • Flexible and tenacious; creative and entrepreneurial; positive and optimistic when tackling challenges; high energy and goal directed
    • Ability to maintain high standards of ethics, integrity, and professionalism, including dealing with sensitive and proprietary information
    • Experience in dynamic management within a multi-site organization with an ability to move and inspire a cross-functional group with unified direction and common vision
    • BA degree in communications, journalism, marketing or business related field preferred
    • Master's degree in related field preferred
    • Vast experience in digital marketing channels and tactics, SEM/SEO, social media, etc.
    • Understand or have experience using Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator and/or InDesign
    • Proficient in Google Analytics, and MailChimp systems
    • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
    • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills
    • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
