ROLE:
We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to advance the backend services that power our core web application.
This contract is specifically for the development of integrations with third-party platforms (Autodesk and others), estimated initial duration of 12 weeks, with a clear progression path to full-time W-2.
This is a hands-on role with end-to-end responsibility: building and maintaining Django/DRF APIs, operating async and realtime systems, and managing the production deployment workflow across our server environments.
You will be responsible for maintaining and improving our primary backend codebases, along with related subsidiary services, with a focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability.

PostgreSQL (running in production, RDS, ORM performance)
Redis/Celery (caching, background tasks, worker ops)
Error Monitoring (Sentry, Papertrail, etc.)
Containerized Development (Docker, Docker Compose)
Ansible (server setup, server deployment, secret management, etc.)
Git/GitHub (workflows, PR reviews, collaborative development)
Code Quality/Testing (pytest, coverage, linting, OpenCI)
Highly Valuable
Geospatial/spatial DB workflows (PostGIS, python geospatial libs)
Timeseries Databases (TimescaleDB, Prometheus, InfluxDB)
Nginx/uWSGI (for django/DRF hosting)
Observability/Monitoring (Cloudwatch, Grafana, node exporter)
Email and Storage Integrations (SES via django-anymail, boto3)
Auth/security in APIs (Oauth toolkit, authlib/oauthlib, CORS, SSO)
Nice to Have
Media/CV Processing Pipelines (OpenCV, Pillow, pdf2image, ffmpeg)
Third-party service integrations (Twilio, ONVIF, Backblaze B2, etc.)
SAML/SSO/MFA (experience in setting up these login flows)
QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years building and operating production backend systems (senior-level ownership strongly preferred)
Deep experience with Python + Django/DRF in production APIs
Strong DB experience (Postgres; plus confidence around Timescale/PostGIS patterns is a major plus)
Comfortable owning async/realtime systems:
Channels/Daphne + Celery/Redis (queues, retries, concurrency)
Comfortable operating releases and deployments (Ansible, systemd services, migrations, collectstatic, fixtures)
Strong communication + documentation habits; able to write/maintain deployment/runbook-level docs and keep infra repo workflows healthy
