    Energy Services West
    The GIS Manager manages the day- to day operations the design and construction team based in Spokane, Washington. This is a manager level position, overseeing efforts to integrate ArcGIS software throughout the company.

    The GIS Manager is fluent in ArcGIS software and is familiar with an array of geoprocessing tools and their capabilities to problem solve and provide work-around solutions to common ArcGIS processing errors and obstacles.

    The GIS Manager leverages strong geospatial skills and collaborates with experts in various disciplines to apply GIS technologies on a variety of projects within the power generation and transmission industry.

    Familiarity with the application of GIS in Geologic, Geotechnical and/or Environmental fields is a plus.
    What You'll Do
    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage general processing and updating of existing geodatabases.
    • Manage designing and building databases and models for project-related workflows.
    • Oversee/administer company-wide use of ArcGIS software.
    • Engage in business development and take responsibility for project execution.
    • Manage various requests from other departments in reporting, cartographic presentation, or other GIS-related needs.
    • Oversee quality checks on active processes.
    • Making periodic reports to management on GIS activities.
    • Establish project objectives, timelines and developing standards for GIS employment and use.
    • Provide GIS-related technical guidance and assistance to project teams.
    • Maintains expertise in GIS-related software and technologies.
    • Monitor performance of GIS staff and ensure the highest quality of work is provided.

    Personnel Management:

    • Maintains an onsite presence and is directly responsible for oversight and supervision of: GIS Staff Technicians, GIS Project Technicians and GIS Developer; Duties include supervision of all aspects of employment in coordination with Human Resources, Supervisor and any applicable laws and regulations.
    • Oversee the coordination of work, training of employees, and evaluate performance of employees, resources, counsels, records, and issues discipline as necessary.
    • Assesses employee needs, ensuring subordinates are properly trained and adhere to company policies, practices, and procedures.
    • Develop supervisors to effectively oversee the daily routines of their assigned resources.
    • Evaluates and meets with subordinates to discuss work performance providing appropriate commendations and disciplinary actions to ensure employees are well equipped to meet and/or exceed job expectations.

    What You'll Bring

    • GIS/GISP Certification OR Bachelor's Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Computer Science, or related field OR Minimum five (5) year work experience in the design, development, implementation, and administration of GIS, including analysis and database development and integration.
    • 5 years project management and 2 years of supervisory experience required.
    • Demonstrated ability to comfortably operate ArcGIS. Google Earth, Microsoft Excel (and other Microsoft Suite) and/or QGIS.
    • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot ArcGIS-related challenges.
    • Strong time management and organizational skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot ArcGIS-related challenges.
    • Strong cartographic and visual design standards to make work products look great for both print and web.
    • Strong data management skills including creating, editing, and transforming GIS data.
    • Experience using ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcGIS online or Portal.
    • Experience building an enterprise geodatabase alongside Microsoft SQL Servicer file database.
    • Experience working with versioned geodatabase.
    • Experience creating Web apps in ArcGIS Online or Portal or any level of ArcGIS Development.
    Compensation Range
    The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $85,000.00/Yr. - USD $105,000.00/Yr. depending on experience and qualifications.
