    • Serves as the AFSOC technical expert advisor to senior leaders and maintenance technicians in the maintenance, operation, and training related to complex and sophisticated systems and equipment.
    • Provides expert systems/equipment advice and recommendations to senior leaders and maintenance technicians.
    • Provides technical assistance to assigned unit in resolving complex system/equipment problems or design deficiencies.
    • Prepares informal training to include over-the-shoulder, classroom, demonstration, one-on-one, and spontaneous training.

    • This position is emergency-essential (E-E). The incumbent of this position must meet all requirements of E-E positions and may be required as a condition of employment to take a series of vaccinations and annual boosters to immunize against anthrax and other diseases. In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent or designated alternate, must continue to perform the E-E duties until relieved by proper authority. The incumbent or the designated alternate may be required to take part in readiness exercises. This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively. This meets the criteria of an E-E position and requires that the incumbent, or the designated alternate, be removed from any recall status.
    • This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. In Accordance With (IAW), Department of Defense Instruction ( DoDI , Defense Continuity Programs.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain secret security clearance.


    In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions for Equipment Services Series, 1670.


    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

    Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems.

    Examples of specialized experience includes practical knowledge in monitoring, controlling, or maintaining the quality of products or services in quality assurance, procurement, inspection, production, or related areas.

    Reviewing production activities and capabilities in light of contract quality requirements.

    Reviewing written quality or inspection procedures for adequacy, and evaluating the implementation and effectiveness of quality/inspection systems, including sampling plans.

    Analyzing quality data to detect unsatisfactory trends or weaknesses in the quality/inspection system.

    Verifying by test or inspection, using sampling inspection or intensive product inspection techniques, that products comply with requirements prior to acceptance.

    Identifying inadequacies and requesting corrective action. Computing data, summarizing results, and preparing reports or charts depicting pertinent relationships using statistical methods. Investigating customer complaints and deficiency reports, and providing identification of causes to appropriate authorities. Reading, interpreting, and applying technical data such as blueprints, engineering drawings, product specifications, or technical manuals. Reviewing and evaluating supply systems operations and procedures through periodic audits and surveillance inspections.

    Knowledge of a comprehensive range of maintenance concepts, principles, and practices related to the systems/equipment on the attached equipment list, including those that have complex technical requirements and require extensive specialized training and experience.

    Specialized practical and theoretical knowledge of assigned systems/equipment for application to difficult and complex situations and problems that have no clear precedent in order to oversee and implement a program involving the identification and resolution of difficult issues or problems such as determining systems/equipment deficiencies and appropriate resolutions.

    FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS)


    POSITIONS:
    Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level.

    TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

    • Ability to plan, organize, and reprioritize work to meet changing deadlines.
    • Ability to develop and conduct training to ensure proper maintenance of assigned systems/equipment; and communicate well, both orally and in writing.
