- Oversees the ideation, design, and development of roadmaps and lifecycles for Linux based operating systems at Mastercard.
- Design models to implement Linux at scale including evangelism of platform capabilities, definition and implementation of any gaps in automating the deployment of the design
- Oversees complex system and platform problem resolutions as well as software and hardware solutions to address technical issues; seeks opportunities for improvements to prevent performance issues from recurring.
- Leads and implements process improvement efforts and owns standards for Mastercard's Linux environments.
- Oversees the implementation of troubleshooting guides and technical assistance processes to empower junior engineers to independently resolve issues with new and existing software.
- Serves as lead architect, providing technical thought leadership for architecting Linux distributions, and establishing technical strategies and roadmaps.
- Mentors, coaches, and conducts technical trainings to develop talent across the organization.

- Successful track record developing architectural standards within global technology domains and sub-domains, expected to define and implement global quality and consistency.
- Successful track record selecting and evaluating new technology that will adhere to innovative industry trends and practices.

The Distributed Platforms team is looking for a Senior Principal, Linux, to drive our Compute, Storage and Runtime technology strategy forward by consistently innovating and problem-solving.

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
