    Role

    The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor will safely and effectively plan for and supervise skilled maintenance craftspeople in performing the maintenance, repair, and installation of equipment in the assigned area of responsibility. Incumbent is responsible to ensure quality and precision workmanship of the crew.

    Accountabilities

    • Provide for the SAFE, effective, and timely completion of maintenance work by planning, scheduling, and supervising the manpower, materials, and equipment of maintenance, and by scheduling and supervising contract maintenance;
    • Apply practical knowledge of the work, tools, materials, and equipment used by the crafts under the maintenance function in estimating, planning, scheduling the work and executing;
    • Work closely with production, maintenance scheduler and other supervisors throughout the plant in making estimates, determining priorities, and scheduling the crafts;
    • Must be able to handle deadlines, variable workloads, and being on call 24-hours, as needed;
    • Perform first line supervisory functions of promoting safety, the efficiency and discipline of their subordinates and effectively creating a team that empowers employees;
    • Inspect quality of work, monitor training progress, and provide effective feedback to operations;
    • Responsible for planning jobs, requisitioning parts, maintaining work specifications, scheduling work, as needed, maintaining BOMs, and updating PM's;
    • Work closely with operations, other maintenance personnel, and engineers on a daily basis;
    • Responsible for scheduling maintenance (both daily and shutdowns) and producing reports, as required;
    • Direct the workforce on off-shifts to repair equipment, as needed (both via telephone and in the facility).
    Qualifications
    • Demonstrate being a Safety Leader-must lead by example;
    • High School diploma or equivalent desired; Two (2) year technical degree or equivalent preferred;
    • Five (5) years mechanical experience in an industrial environment;
    • Ability to adapt to change, embrace Lean concepts and willingly accept new challenges and responsibilities;
    • Ability to handle deadlines, variable workloads, and being on call, as required;
    • Ability to work both independently and as a team member;
    • Good computer skills (e.g. Word, Excel, general familiarity with Windows). SAP experience, a plus;
    • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbally and written;
    • Ability and willingness to be promoted a minimum of one level within organization
