Executive Director of Operations, Human Neural Circuitry and CNC Programs School of Medicine, Stanford, California, United StatesNew Administration 4 days ago Post Date 103191 Requisition #Stanford University is seeking an Executive Director to provide strategic direction for the administrative and operations-related functions for the Human Neural Circuitry Program (HNC), under the direction of Professor Karl Deisseroth. HNC is a university wide interdisciplinary, multi department research program that is partnered with Cracking the Neural Code (CNC) program and Stanford Hospitals, aimed at enhancing our understanding of neuropsychiatric disorders. Working under the supervision of Dr. Deisseroth the Executive Director will play a crucial role in steering administrative and operational aspects of the HNC and its alignment with the CNC. The Executive Director will provide overall leadership and supervision to HNC staff and collaborate extensively with CNC staff, study physicians, clinical trial nurses, and hospital personelle to ensure smooth closed-loop operation of this central goal and to lead programmatic growth through the development of new integrated pre-clinical and translational programs. They will oversee and/or manage the finances across all sources for the annual budget cycle, including developing, monitoring, analyzing, forecasting and reporting. The executive director is independently responsible for leading and executing all aspects of the strategic planning process for the HNC and CNC Programs. The Director will have autonomy in developing and drafting grant and fundraising proposals for CNC, as well as joint HNC/CNC narrative and financial reports, and will be involved in the oversight and coordination of donor outreach and development. The ideal candidate will need experience working in a large complex organization and with a multidisciplinary team, managing multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously. They will have excellent communication skills and ability to skillfully manage interruption and multiple projects of short and long-term nature. Ability to support co-workers at all levels of the divisions (faculty, staff, trainees), understanding how to balance differing, sometimes competing needs of each category and advocate successfully both internally and outside the local organizations. The capability to balance and address the unique needs of faculty, staff, and trainees is a crucial requirement for this role.Duties include:- Direct staff and provide leadership to achieve goals and vision of the organization and the day-to-day operations. Responsible for hiring and retaining staff, career coaching, personal development for direct reports and accountable for the performance of employees.May independently or in collaboration with human resources managers, guide faculty supervisors in the interpretation and implementation of human resources policies, procedures and programs.Develop business plans and infrastructure to support research and teaching. Provide analysis and review of multi-year plans, including providing alternative methods for achieving goals when necessary. Influence faculty leadership on specific recommendations for current operation and for future development of the organization and lead process improvement.Interpret, implement and ensure compliance with university academic and administrative policies and procedures within an operating unit. Recommend new internal policies, guidelines and procedures.Oversee and/or manage the finances across all sources for the annual budget cycle, including developing, monitoring, analyzing forecasting and reporting.Manage and coordinate grants and contracts for the department. Ensure compliance with institutional and external requirements.Represent Stanford HNC externally with collaborators and partners. Negotiate contracts and develop partnerships that reflect the mission of HNC and support the sustainability of the programs.Jointly direct the preclinical arm (CNC, for cracking the Neural Code) which interfaces with the clinical HNC program in University-spanning operation, and has operated a >$10M/year budget over >10 years.
