    CT trainees are only to perform CT imaging protocols independently after demonstrating full competency in designated anatomical area/protocol. The CT Trainee will be supervised by an RT (CT) registered CT Technologist.

    MAJOR FUNCTION:


    Produces Computed Tomographic images of designated anatomical areas as ordered/directed by a licensed physician/provider, according to established practices and procedures.

    CT trainees are only to perform CT imaging protocols independently after demonstrating full competency in designated anatomical area/protocol. The CT Trainee will be supervised by an RT (CT) registered CT Technologist.


    QUALIFICATIONS:


    Education & Experience:

    • High School required.
    • CT trainee must be certified and registered in Radiography, Nuclear Medicine Technology, or Radiation Therapy and be eligible for CT certification board.
    • 1 year experience in boarded modality preferred.

    Certification/Licensure:

    • Current New Jersey DEP license required.
    • ARRT and/or NMTCB required.
    • American Heart Association BLS required.
    • IV certification required within 90 days of hire.
    • CT certification required within 1 year of hire.

    Position Responsibilities


    • Produces high quality diagnostic, Computed Tomography images prescribed by a licensed physician/provider in a timely manner.
    • Accurately identifies patient to requisition 100% of the time utilizing Inspira HRO safety tool Red Rules- patient identification.
    • Transports patients to examination room and transfers patient to CT table, if necessary.
    • Utilizes immobilization devices as required for safe imaging.
    • Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
    • Provides radiation protection equipment (including proper collimation) for patients in accordance with regulatory standards.
    • Utilize iCARE- explains procedures to patients and families and addresses any concerns.
    • Processes all images and evaluates images for technical quality.
    • Prepares images and necessary documents for interpretation by a radiologist or privileged physician/provider including an appropriate reason for the examination.
    • Practice of imaging procedures is demonstrated by compliance with approved departmental technical procedures, i.e., scanning protocols as appropriate to the ages of the patients serviced (neonate, pediatric, adult or geriatric).
    • Demonstrates knowledge of proper examination sequencing and preparations as appropriate to the ages of the patients served (neonate, pediatric, adult or geriatric).
    • Assists the radiologists, other licensed physicians/providers and nursing personnel performing procedures in conjunction with CT equipment, such as, localizations and special procedures, after completing Inspira HRO safety tool Red Rule- time out.
    • Utilizes understanding of cognitive, emotional, physical, and mental development to interpret patient statements and behaviors.
    • Prepares and administers oral, rectal, urological, and intravenous contrast agents according to approved protocols.
    • Utilize Inspira Policy Tech for selecting the proper protocol, policies, and guidelines based on the imaging order and safe patient handling.
    • Knows his/her role should an emergent situation arise.
    • Records all patient information properly, including a complete history form with contrast information, scanned into PACS.
