- Assist patients to exam rooms
- Obtains vital signs
- Obtains, evaluates, and record's patient history as per protocols
- Admits patients, takes height, weight, blood pressure and other measurements as applicable
- Applies principles of aseptic technique and infection control
- Assists with examinations, procedures and treatments
- Assists patients to examination rooms, lab and restrooms
- Collects and process specimens
- Complies with established risk management and safety procedures
- Complies with quality assurance practices
- Maintains examination/treatment rooms, including inventory of supplies and equipment
- Maintains medication and immunization records
- Makes appointments and schedules referrals as directed
- Makes copies and faxes documents as requested
- Makes correct entries in patient charts and checks appointment dates
- Manages the care of patients in collaboration with other health professionals and members of the healthcare team in order to make decisions about treatment and attain health goals
- Performs CLIA-waived tests
- Administers meds as under license
- Performs electrocardiography and respiratory testing
- Performs phlebotomy, including venipuncture and capillary puncture
- Performs quality assurance on glucometers
- Practices Standard Precautions, including hand washing and disposal of bio-hazardous materials
- Prepares and administer oral and parenteral medications
- Prepares patient for examinations, procedures and treatments; obtains any authorizations for procedure and/or treatment, if required
- Receives, organizes, prioritizes, stores and maintains transmittable information utilizing electronic technology
- Recognizes and responds to emergencies
- Serves as communication liaison between the provider and patient
- Performs other duties of a MA as required
- Restocks and straightens exam rooms
- Ability to follow established procedures and maintain high level of organization
- Ability to learn reasonably quickly
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to multi-task

- Working knowledge of adult and/or pediatric nursing and medications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- CPR certified
- Successful completion of a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required
- Training verification as a MA required
- Successful completion of testing preferred
- Two (2) years of successful experience in a clinical setting preferred
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time, hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to deliver medical services and use equipment.
- Ability to work in conditions that include exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissues, contagious diseases and/or other potentially hazardous materials
- Fine motor coordination sufficient to perform manipulative skills
- Moderate physical exertion including frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching and carrying moderately heavy loads (up to 25 lbs.)
