    About the RoleResponsible for follow-up of welding mechanical systems designs for a variety of assembly applications including welders, robots, conveyance, and transfer systems.

    Applies industry knowledge and experience to manage projects from the quoting phase through commissioning and production. Utilizes planning, resource and task management skills in directing vendors to successful implementation of projects. Can delegate and manage multiple projects at any given time.

    Is capable of making autonomous decisions based on experience and project requirements; has specialized training either formal or through on-the-job work experience.

    Travel (possibly international) is often required until equipment is in operation. Your Responsibilities(This job description in no way implies that these are the only duties to be performed in this position. Employees will be required to follow any other job related instructions or to perform other job duties requested by their manager.)1.

    Responsible to drive and understand customer specifications, both corporate and plant, and applies
    LMVstandards for use in all aspects of mechanical designs.2.

    Responsible to support production personnel in root cause analysis and problem resolution of production throughput, quality and cost challenges.3. Provide direction on application of welds during process development to optimize line throughput while still maintaining customer weld specifications4. Provide direction on continuous improvement efforts to improve the quality of welds5. Evaluate weld documentation and test results to ensure compliance with all customer specifications 6. Responsible to estimate content and labor costs for proposals and engineering change quotes.7. Responsible to assign, follow-up and approve vendor work requirements throughout design phase.8. Responsible to follow-up and ensure vendor progress that meets or exceeds project timing.9.

    Responsible for analyzing scope of work during pre-award phase and to assist in development of manpower plan requirements to complete project within time constraints defined in the project timeline.10.

    Responsible to give updates to project team including cost projections as engineering changes occur during the life cycle of the project.11.

    Responsible to work with customer to finalize design requirements, reviews and approvals throughout design phase.12. Responsible for Installation Risk Assessment, Safety & CE Risk Assessment and MFMEA.13. Works with the Ergonomic Committee to complete ERA's on equipment.14.

    Works with the Engineer Manager to ensure cross functional communication is taking place when there's a "process change" that affects engineering and/or other departments.15.

    Works with the Engineer Manager to execute projects16. Works with the Engineer Manager to track and report project status, CPMP.17.

    Works with the Engineer Manager to create project timelines for design tasks from critical project milestones provided by Engineer Manager.18.

    Responsible in leading Cross-functional teams to complete PFMEA's, Process Flows, Standardized Work documentation.19. Responsible for program management documentation - CPMP open issue updates and scheduling/leading CPMP Gate Reviews.20. Works with Engineer Manager on build, integration and commissioning plan.21. Works with Engineer Manager to strengthen Welding Criteria at equipment buy-off22. Works with Welding Team in the Plant as needed, as a point of contact for support23. Follows and supports
    LMVAutomotive System's and Magna's operating principles,24. Supports efforts to achieve department and plant goals on Employee Opinion Survey.25. May be required to adjust shifts as necessary.26. Perform other duties as assigned.


    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    N/AWho we are looking forEducation and/or Experience: (These qualifications represent the minimum requirements of the position. Employees will be required to possess the ability and aptitudes to perform the duties proficiently.)

    • Post-secondary education in a Welding Engineering or Welding Technologist program preferred
    • Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in resistance welding in a manufacturing environment
    Projection, resistance and GMAW welding experience a mustKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Must have good organizational skills to attend to multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Must be proficient in computer operations.
    • Must exhibit high integrity and honesty.
    • Working knowledge of G.D.&T., SPC
    • Working knowledge of CAD programs.
    • Working knowledge of Mistake Proofing/Poke-Yoke.
    • Working knowledge of Control Plan, F.M.E.A., APQP or related experience.
    • Must have computer skills (including MS Project, Excel, and PowerPoint).
    • Ability to prepare, read, write and interpret reports, instructions and procedures.
    • Able to clearly and effectively respond to questions from management and customers
    • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, blueprints, diagrams, welding symbols, requirements and business correspondence.
    • Ability to effectively and appropriately present information and respond to questions for various groups
