    About the Role

Endless West is looking for a Senior Accountant to help us build out accounting operations in our new beverage alcohol production facility in Detroit, Michigan.

Reporting initially to the CFO – and thereafter to the Controller – this position will be responsible for a large part of our accounting cycle (month/year-end close) as well as Accounts Receivable.

Once you're trained up, you'll also help supervise a Junior Accountant.

For this to be the right role for you, it's crucial that you are systems-oriented and (once you've received training) you are comfortable owning key accounting and finance responsibilities with limited supervision.

This is a great opportunity to get ground-level exposure to the inside of a rapidly scaling startup, and once you've demonstrated comfort taking on responsibility, we'd love to help you grow and learn more
Our Company and HQ is based in Detroit, Michigan. This position will be based out of our manufacturing facility there and requires an in-person presence in the offices.

Down the road, we may be open to discussing a hybrid arrangement – but for now it's especially important that you are someone who wants to be in an office environment on a regular basis.

    What You'll Do:
Own a significant portion of our regular accounting cycle including inventory, prepaids, accruals, and reconciliations. You'll be responsible for calculating and submitting journal entries for the Controller to approve.

Own the Accounts Receivable processes. You'll be responsible for our OTC process, including customer invoicing, collections, and issuing monthly statements.

You'll work closely with our Commercial Team to onboard new customers compliantly, and actively monitor our customer orders to ensure they are invoiced accurately in a timely manner.

Manage the Accounts Receivable inbox, communicating with customers and escalating issues to the Commercial Team as needed.

Oversee Accounts Payable, which will be owned by a Junior Accountant. Monitor the payables processes to ensure vendor invoices and payments are timely, accurate, and properly recorded.

We're all about efficiency on this team, so you will make suggestions that leverage technology and systems utilization to shorten our receivables and payables cycles.

Manage bank reconciliations, prepare cash flow reports, and assist with forecasting short-term working capital needs. Review our current banking procedures to strengthen internal controls while ensuring that we're operating within them.

    Oversee our expense processing procedures.

You will be accountable for completing the monthly expense cycle within our month-end timelines, and conducting monthly reviews of expense reports to confirm they comply with company policies.

Assist the Controller in managing our inventory, helping to execute physical inventory counts and reconcile variances.

Assist the Controller with our Fixed Assets module by maintaining the assets within the platform and running/reconciling our monthly depreciation.

Monitor cash flow, prepare regular reporting, and assist with cash flow forecasting.

Prepare monthly tax filings (federal and state-level reporting) and submit other compliance reports assigned to you. Alcohol is a highly regulated industry, so we have a lot of these.

Supervise a Junior Accountant in our Detroit manufacturing facility.

We'll look to you not only to provide guidance on their daily tasks, but to act as a mentor helping them learn and grow.

Other ad hoc tasks as requested.

    About You:
You have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or Business, and at least 3 years experience in an accounting role. Bonus points if you have worked in the CPG/manufacturing industry.

You've achieved your CPA designation or you're working toward it.

You're personable, enthusiastic, and outgoing. You don't fit the mold of the "stereotypical accountant".

You're a strong team player who can integrate and work well with a variety of personalities, and don't mind a casual office environment.

You're confident in your great speaking skills, and can communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance peers. You can convince people to help you get things done.

You have some experience with an ERP like NetSuite – posting transactions and participating in full-cycle accounting isn't new to you.

A hands-on understanding of accounting transactions and how to execute them is crucial to performing well in this role.

You are detail-oriented, process-oriented, and independently-responsible. Not only do you learn quickly, but you can work effectively without close supervision. You understand how to prioritize what needs to be done immediately and recognize what can wait.

You are flexible and can adapt quickly to new tasks, situations, and people.

You like the idea of taking ownership for your function and you see yourself as a high performer.

You want to learn new things and are always trying to improve yourself. You're eager to proactively find and suggest improvements to processes and the way we work with others.

You're systems-oriented – you like technology and want to use it to do things more efficiently.

You understand the importance of your role – you deliver on deadlines, and are available for overtime (we try to avoid it, but sometimes it's necessary).

You have strong computer skills and an above-average understanding of Microsoft Office.
