    Description

    Receive and process cash, checks, and credit card payments for various university services, including tuition fees, parking permits, and other miscellaneous payments.

    Count and verify cash received, prepare cash deposits, and reconcile cash drawers on a regular basis. Maintain accurate and organized financial records, both physically and electronically. Prepare and process receipts, invoices, and other financial documents. Ensure proper coding and entry of transactions in the university's financial system. Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders. Assist customers with inquiries, provide information on payment options, and resolve any payment-related issues or discrepancies. Handle customer complaints or concerns in a professional and timely manner. Adhere to financial policies, guidelines, and regulations, ensuring compliance with university and state regulations. Maintain confidentiality of financial information and follow security protocols for cash handling and financial transactions. Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on cash transactions and reconcile cash receipts with the financial system. Identify and investigate any discrepancies or errors, taking appropriate corrective actions as needed. Assist in training and providing guidance to new cashiers. Serve as a resource for cash handling procedures, financial policies, and customer service best practices. Act as a mentor and support team members as needed.

    Collaborate with other departments, such as the Bursar's Office, Student Accounts, and Financial Aid, to ensure smooth coordination of financial transactions and resolve any issues that may arise.

    Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend solutions to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of cash handling procedures. Stay updated on industry best practices and technological advancements related to cashiering and financial services.

    Minimum Qualifications


    • Prior cash handling experience in a customer service-oriented environment.
    • Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
    • Proficient in using computer applications, including MS Office suite and financial systems.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
    • Knowledge of financial regulations, policies, and procedures is a plus.

    Additional Considerations:

    • Bachelor's Degree preferred with a concentration in Accounting or Business.
    • Experience in accounts receivable and/or cash handling environment.
    • Knowledge and experience of office procedures using automated financial accounting systems is preferred; and experience using BANNER, TICKET-TRAK, and CARS is preferred.
