Description
The privileges and responsibilities of an Emergency Physician should be in compliance with applicable state regulations governing Physicians.In addition, the responsibilities detailed below should be undertaken by the Physician only if their training and/or past experience qualifies them in these areas.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Assess a patient's condition to determine the severity of the problem.
Speak with patients to elicit their medical history and learn the details of a patient's ailments.
Perform physical examinations to diagnose and treat patients.
Able to stabilize or attend to the patient's basic needs and refer patients to a specialist, admit, or transfer the patient as necessary.
Able to quickly assess a patient's condition with very little information, make a preliminary diagnosis, and immediately begin treating a patient.
Effectively interacts with a wide range of personality types and ages.
Effectively fills out T-sheets and preparing paperwork, both as a legal record of treatment and for the benefit of other healthcare professionals.
Liaising with other medical and non-medical staff in the hospital to ensure quality treatment and working together as a team.
