    THIS POSITION REQUIRES TRAVEL TO VARIOUS PROJECT SITES AND A ROTATING SCHEDULE (TYPICALLY 14 DAYS ON / 7 DAYS OFF)

    THIS ROLE:

    The Field Engineer (Survey) Intern is responsible for observing and practicing all aspects of survey within our marine construction projects including providing technical/operational expertise to the operations team. This includes the collecting, processing, and reporting of all surveys to both the operations team and the administrative team. In addition, the Field Engineer (Survey) Inter generates and reviews project survey requirements from completion to final approval. The Field Engineer Intern is also responsible assisting the Project Manager in establishing, maintaining, and performing all duties required to provide administrative support for dredging project jobsites. All task duties listed will be performed in conjunction with and under supervision of Curtin's full-time team of skilled Field Engineers.

    POSITION REQUIRMENTS / GOALS:

    • Assist survey team and Manage Survey Assets (Boat, Trailer, Sonar, etc.)
    • Develop project plan with project management
    • Capture and utilize survey data to advise/plan daily dredge plan
    • Collect and interpret data to aid both the current project and provide the bid team with production data to use as part of the bidding process

    WHAT YOU'LL DO:

    • Responsible for all technical/operational aspects of survey in the assigned project within the guidelines set by the Project Manager and customer
    • Generate daily survey related deliverables and discuss survey results with Project Manager and crew
    • Perform survey related calculations
    • Define, generate, and review project requirements documentation within defined scope
    • Develop work plans and hazard analysis to ensure safety and efficiency
    • Perform document control tasks including schedules, correspondence, submittals, progress payments, and change orders
    • Resolve of engineering, material, and planning issues
    • Ensure implementation of improved engineering processes
    • Work with purchasing department on vessel specific purchases needed which includes sourcing from appropriate vendors and arranging the shipment
    • Be the lead on all maintenance needs of the survey boat and trailer
    • Tow the survey boat to the project site using company vehicles
    • Develop/update project schedule and identify potential conflicts or delays in the project timeline and work to resolve
    • Track, analyze and generate reports of project progress and productivity
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies
    • Calibrate, troubleshoot & maintain survey and vessel positioning systems
    • Processing contract pay estimates and billings
    • Assist Project Manager with project submittals

    WHO YOU ARE:

    Tests, Certifications and Other Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management in progress
    • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office desktop programs, especially MS Excel
    • Technical understanding of construction and maintenance of marine vessels
    • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and drawings, ABS, USCG rules
    • Valid Driver's License with clean driving record required
    • Valid TWIC (or ability to get one)

    Mental Aptitudes

    • Experience in identifying and anticipating design/production work sequence conflicts required
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills required
    • Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling, possess an ability to monitor progress to schedule and adhere to strict deadlines required
    • Willingness and ability to spend time onboard the vessel going up and down staircases and vertical ladders required

    • Must comply with all work rules, including those that pertain to safety and health

    Physical Aptitudes

    • Must meet "fit for duty" requirements upon job offer (pre-employment physical and drug test)
    • The employee must meet physical requirements including but not limited to, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing up/down ladders and stairs, negotiating uneven and moving surfaces
    • Must be comfortable entering tanks and other confined spaces
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
    • Ability to work when exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels, and potentially hazardous equipment
