    Northrop Grumman is seeking qualified candidates for a Tax Manager in Falls Church, VA.

    The qualified candidate will participate in the management of all aspects of worldwide tax reporting including preparation of the quarterly tax footnote, including forecasting.

    Specifically, ensuring compliance with ASC 740 and more broadly with all relevant SEC reporting requirements as they relate to corporate tax.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:


    • Manages the monthly, quarterly and year-end close process for all income tax-related processes/balances
    • Prepares and manages the month, quarter and year-end effective tax rates
    • Prepares and/or reviews monthly, quarterly and year-end tax provision schedules
    • Prepares and/or reviews federal cash tax forecast
    • Uses and maintains CorpTax Provision Software
    • Researches tax accounting issues and stays up to date on new or emerging guidance in the tax accounting area
    • Prepares tax disclosures within SEC filings
    • Prepares quarter and year-end external tax audit work papers
    • Coordinates the review of tax accounting and reporting with external auditors
    • Maintains documentation for SOX and internal audit purposes
    In this role, the selected individual will also have some responsibility for the following:


    • Prepares certain parts of SEC reports, such as Management Discussion and Analysis, financial statements and footnotes
    • Teams up with other critical tax areas, including tax compliance and tax planning for interconnectedness between tax compliance and accounting and to drive efficiencies within the tax department as a whole
    • Leads meetings with finance management and other business leaders to address technical tax accounting topics and finance projects
    Qualifications


    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
    • CPA certification plus 8 years of progressive relevant tax experience in public accounting and/or a large corporate environment
    • Strong experience with corporate tax provisions
    • Strong technical skills and experience of US GAAP and SEC reporting guidance
    • Detailed understanding of ASC 740
    • Understanding of all other relevant aspects of US GAAP tax financial reporting
    • Experience in translating local GAAP outside the USA into US GAAP
    • Proficiency in tax research tools and Microsoft Office.
    • Proven ability to work independently as well as work effectively in a team-based environment, demonstrating a hands-on approach.
    • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills, as well as project management and interpersonal skills. The ability to prioritize and balance requests in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in Tax or Accounting
    • Prior management experience
    • Advanced skills in the use of SAP, HFM, MS Excel and CorpTax are strongly preferred
    • Familiarity with the impact of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act for tax reporting purposes
    • Preferred background in Manufacturing/Aerospace/Defense Industry, Big 4 Tax Accounting, or publicly traded company experience

    Salary Range:
    $134,600 - $201,800


    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
