    Job Summary and Description

EPRI is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as our Director of Impact Messaging. This role is responsible for shaping and amplifying EPRI's public voice across media channels, driving high-impact storytelling, and ensuring our mission, research, and collaborations are clearly and compellingly communicated to external audiences — from policymakers and press to global stakeholders and the public.

The Director will lead brand management, media engagement, and digital innovation efforts, ensuring EPRI's voice is clear, consistent, and influential across traditional, social, and emerging platforms. This position is responsible for directing, leading, and developing staff responsible for brand management, media engagement, thought leadership development, digital communications strategies, and the organization's external communications. As a key spokesperson for EPRI, this role will also serve as a key EPRI contact for numerous communications senior officials in utilities and energy companies, both U.S. and non-U.S. This leader will champion the integration of AI into communications workflows, embed a global perspective in all messaging, and translate complex technical work into compelling public narratives.

    Key Responsibilities

    General Responsibilities

    • Hire and make staffing decisions for impact communications team, media team, and digital strategy team.
    • Establish and meet business plan objectives and budgets.
    • Champion the integration of AI across all communications workflows — from content creation and media monitoring to audience targeting and performance analytics — to drive innovation, efficiency, and strategic insight in how EPRI engages the world.
    • Ensure a global perspective is embedded across all communications strategies and content — reflecting the diversity of EPRI's stakeholders, collaborators, and impact across regions, cultures, and energy systems.
    • Track and analyze performance metrics to refine strategy and demonstrate public impact;
    • Engage with the Sector Research Portfolio Managers and leadership to ensure close collaboration and support of EPRI public benefit mission.

    Traditional and Social Media

    • Develop and lead a comprehensive media strategy (traditional and social) that elevates the organization's visibility and thought leadership across national and global platforms.
    • Serve as a spokesperson and support leadership and subject matter experts for interviews, panels, and public appearances.

    Brand Management Strategy

    • Develop and execute a cohesive brand strategy that elevates EPRI's visibility, credibility, and impact across global energy, technology, and policy ecosystems.
    • Ensure brand consistency across all external communications, digital platforms, media engagements, and stakeholder touchpoints.
    • Partner with internal teams and external collaborators to align brand messaging with organizational priorities, research breakthroughs, and public impact.
    • Monitor brand perception and media presence, using insights to refine positioning and proactively manage reputation.
    • Lead creative direction and visual identity standards to ensure a modern, accessible, and mission-aligned brand experience.
    • Ensure message consistency across all external communications, including digital, print, and live engagements.

    Impact Communications

    • Lead the strategy for the development of high-impact campaigns that translate technical research and innovation into compelling public narratives.
    • Provide creative direction and visual identity standards to ensure a modern, accessible, and mission-aligned brand experience.
    • Support "one EPRI" through communications and marketing initiatives and identifying strategic venues for messaging.

    Digital Strategy

    • Champion the use of immersive and interactive content formats — including motion graphics, short-form video, data visualizations, and AI-generated media — to engage diverse audiences.
    • Pilot innovative storytelling tools such as dynamic reports, real-time dashboards, and interactive graphics to showcase impact and research outcomes.
    • Monitor digital trends and audience behaviors to continuously refine content strategy and platform mix for maximum reach and relevance.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor of Science, Communications, Marketing, Business, Advertising, or other related degree. An advanced degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience working in an energy related field, preferably related to communications and marketing associated with the generation, delivery and use of energy or electric power.
    • Minimum of 5 years of senior level management experience in a complex environment with international customers.

This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
