Spend your summer outdoors playing games as a Camp Counselor at Camp Wakonda, Keene Family YMCA's popular summer day camp program In this seasonal role you will provide supervision for a group of children in grades 1-5, and leadership for Assistant Counselors, while ensuring a positive, nurturing, and inclusive experience for all.

This is a full-time, seasonal position, running from June 17th-August 23rd.

Campers will be engaged each day through active group games, STEM projects, creative arts, team building, water play and more.

Leads energizing, fun, culturally aware and safe camp activities and field trips.
Provides direct supervision and instruction to camp participants in accordance with established guidelines.
Assists with planning and creating lesson plans.

Builds meaningful relationships with campers, families, and camp staff, while exemplifying the Y's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and the four core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Upholds all YMCA policies, procedures, standards and abides by the code of conduct.
Projects a positive, enthusiastic, and professional image while on the job.

Must be 18 years of age or older
Desire to work with school-age children
Behavioral management skills
Ability to be flexible and multi-task
Experience in one or more of the following is preferred: outdoor living/education, music, theatre arts, swim instruction or lifeguard certification, youth sports, physical education or creative arts
Successful completion of CPR/First Aid/AED Certification and Child Abuse Prevention training prior to camp start date
5+ years of experience working with youth.
~Degree in education, recreation, psychology, social work or equivalent
~ Certification, extensive training, or work experience in DEI
