    Job Description:

    The Drilling Engineer/Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of drilling operations, as well as performing the duties typically expected of a drilling engineer. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Rig Contract Negotiation and Selection: Negotiate contracts with rig contractors, ensuring the best value for the company. Select the appropriate rig and contractor for each drilling operation.
    • AFE Generation: Generate Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) for drilling projects, ensuring all costs are accurately estimated and budgeted.
    • Procurement: Oversee the procurement of all necessary equipment and materials for drilling operations. Ensure that all procurement activities adhere to company policies and budget constraints.
    • Well Design: Design well plans in accordance with state and federal requirements, industry standards, and company policies. This includes determining the most efficient directional plan for the well, selecting the appropriate drilling methods, and designing the casing program.
    • Procedure Generation: Develop detailed drilling procedures to guide the drilling team. This includes procedures for normal operations as well as contingency plans for potential problems.
    • Supervision of Operations: Supervise day-to-day drilling operations, ensuring that all activities are carried out safely and efficiently. This includes monitoring and guiding drilling progress in direct communication with rigsite personnel, coordinating with other departments, and making necessary adjustments to the drilling plan.
    • Optimization of Drilling Program: Continually seek ways to improve the efficiency of drilling operations and reduce costs. This includes optimizing drilling methods, improving equipment performance, and implementing new technologies.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with minimum 10 years of horizontal drilling engineering operational experience.
    • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
    • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.

    This position may require working in a variety of conditions, including remote locations, harsh weather, and potentially hazardous environments. The Drilling Engineer/Manager must be prepared to work long hours and be on call 24/7 during drilling operations.
