    Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYThis position is responsible for leading a maintenance team responsible for supporting production area needs for all electrical and mechanical services for the construction of ships for delivery to both commercial and military customers.

    Develops, defines and manages assigned department/area to attain quality, schedule and cost objectives. Reviews and understands department, organization, and company goals and objectives and supports execution plans that ensure positive predictable results. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
    Communicates with superintendent, supervisors, union personnel, contractors, and on-site customer personnel. Frequent communication with peer-level and sub-level management personnel and general workforce.
    Establish work scope and obtain pricing for projects from outside contractors.

    Also manage and coordinate projects with the contractors and internal entities Safety and Security; Observes safety and security procedures; determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; recognizes potentially unsafe conditions and takes steps to repair or report them; uses equipment and materials properly and safely.

    Plans, develops and implements organizational policies and goals.
    Measures performance to maintain the facilities budget and supports area superintendent in budget analysis and budget adherence
    Plans and schedules daily and overtime resources as required.
    Understands follows and implements union contractual and procedural issues.
    Ensures maintenance team is supporting all programs and facilities requirements.
    Reviews, recommends and plans implementation of new processes and procedures. This includes PM's for new equipment and installation of processes in CMMS.
    Writing and implementing JSA's and SOP's.
    Manage and maintain all documentation to meet with ISO requirements.
    Maintains a commitment to the company vision and the "spirit" of the organization.
    Presides over department wide employee daily, weekly and monthly safety meetings.
    Communicates clearly and directly with employees concerning performance expectations, productivity, and accountability.
    Develops and trains employees for future advancement when possible.
    Must abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises 1 to 10 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

    Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. When entering the shipyard, the work environment is not climate-controlled and there is exposure to moving equipment, etc.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    Qualified candidates are required to have a High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of relevant experience.
    Preference is given to those with experience in a manufacturing or shipbuilding environment.
    An Associate's Degree or above would be considered a plus.

    Essential to this position is the ability to lead, direct, coach, and discipline employees in alignment with Company processes, policies, and procedures.

    The successful candidate will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to read blueprints, and familiarity with Microsoft Outlook.

    Candidates should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Products. Experience with computer systems such as EVMS, Baan, or a Time and Attendance systems is a plus.
