    Job Description:

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Demonstrates Core Values: Integrity, Trust, Respect, Teamwork, and Excellence in all interactions.
    • Displays outstanding organizational skills in preparing for surgical procedures.
    • Prepares instruments, supplies, and equipment to ensure a safe and therapeutic patient environment.
    • Incorporates personal integrity and surgical ethics into all aspects of performance.
    • Collaborates with the registered nurse and perioperative team to execute the patient's care plan.
    • Engages positively with central sterilization staff.
    • Ensures environmental safety by wearing appropriate surgical attire and personal protective equipment, anticipating needs, and maintaining aseptic technique.
    • Participates actively in universal protocol and time out procedures as per policy.
    • Follows proper procedures for sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
    • Ensures appropriate care and handling of specimens.
    • Follows correct procedures for medication care and handling on the sterile field.
    • Ensures proper care, labeling, and handling of equipment and instrumentation.
    • Assists the surgeon as directed.
    • Cleans and prepares instruments for decontamination and sterilization.
    • Helps clean the surgical suite and prepare it for the next patient.
    • Demonstrates proficiency in Meditech and ORM for printing preference cards/schedules.
    • Serves as a mentor to new OR staff.
    • Attends meetings and education opportunities for continued learning.
    • Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

    Education/Experience Required:

    • Strong organizational and planning skills.
    • Proficiency in computer skills - Meditech, ORM.
    • Ability to concentrate and prioritize in a busy environment.
    • Efficient and quick work pace.
    • Experience working in a surgical services environment.
    • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologists program.

    Registration/Certification:

    • Certified Operating Room Technician.
    • BLS Certification.

    Physical/Environmental Requirements:

    This role involves bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, standing, walking, and more. Requires physical strength and agility, as well as good hearing, vision, speech, and problem-solving skills.
