- Interacts professionally with management, laboratory personnel, physicians, hospital personnel, patients and customers to provide optimal patient care.

- Exercises all laboratory safety precautions and adheres OSHA and TOSHA safety regulations
- Maintains working knowledge of laboratory policies and procedures.
- Maintains current knowledge and adheres to hospital policies and state, federal and other regulatory requirements
- Responsible for the training oversight of new non-technical employees and students as assigned.
- Manages the operational functions of designated laboratory areas on a daily basis and handles human resource issues as requested by the laboratory director.
- Facilitates process improvement projects and serves on teams/committees as needed.
- Responsible for laboratory outreach business which includes obtaining new outpatient laboratory business and regular visits/phone calls to current clients. Responsible for working with nursing home director of nursing and physician office practice managers to provide optimal laboratory services and follows through with outpatient complaints.
- Responsible for adherence to laboratory compliance guidelines and provides on-going education to laboratory staff regarding laboratory compliance.
- Works with coordinators in assigned areas to maintain proper staffing and effective operations.
- Serves as a mentor and coach to laboratory staff.
- Other duties as needed/assigned.
- BS or AS degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent. BS preferred.
- Valid State of Tennessee Medical Technologist/Technician license
- State of Tennessee Supervisor's license preferred
- Four (4) years of laboratory experience
- Management experience preferred
- Meditech experience preferred
- Knowledge of medical laboratory science
- Knowledge of laboratory rules, regulations and compliance regulations
- Strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills
- Ability to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations
- Ability to work independently, be attentive to detail and maintain a positive attitude
- Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work
