    Volunteer Engagement SpecialistDuration : 06 months (Possibility of extension)

    Location :

    Phoenix, AZPay: $32/hour on w2 without any benefitsDescription:Under the supervision of the Aging and Disability Services (ADS), Elder Rights and Benefits Manager, this position will gather information and data regarding the volunteer network across the Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) Network.

    The position will work closely with the State SHIP Coordinator, various ADS program specialists, offices and the regional SHIP coordinators to garner insight on the program's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and gaps.

    The position will engage regional coordinators and current volunteers in interviews and/or focus groups to identify best practices for volunteer recruitment, retention, engagement and management from nationwide state SHIPs.

    The position will work primarily independently with limited supervision, and regular check-ins and meetings with the supervisor.

    A computer and two monitors will be supplied, and secure fob/software for utilization on personal telephone for work related communications.

    Individual will need high-speed Internet access.

    The position will follow the established work plan to achieve the goals and objectives outlined and execute duties and tasks in a timely manner, within the timeframe allotted.

    The position will identify, develop and create templates, graphics and other deliverables as identified in the work plan in cooperation with program partners and DES offices, as needed.

    The position's work location is primarily the candidates home, however, there will be limited travel statewide, and they may be required to periodically come into the office for consultation or meetings.


    Skills Required :
    Oral and written communication (including public speaking and creating formal presentations).
    • Knowledge and experience with group facilitation.
    • Knowledge and experience with research and evaluation of best practices.
    • Compiling, analyzing and interpreting various guidance, reports and data as gathered.
    - The utilization of the Google Suite (i.e. Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms) , Google Meets/Zoom meetings.
    • Problem solving, critical thinking and decision making.

    Skills Preferred:
    Principles of project management and prioritization of multiple facets of a project.
    • Knowledge on developing a strategic plan.
    • Developing training materials and building and conducting presentations.
    • Creating detailed reports and findings.

    Education Required:


    A bachelor's degree in business administration, or related field, with moderate experience in project coordination, (e.g., writing procedures, managing the day-to-day operations/activities of a project, tracking projects, preparing and making formal presentations to partners, management, etc.,) and experience with investigation, document preparation and formulating resolutions to identify gaps or issues.

    Experience of knowledge of the SHIP program is preferred, but not required.

    Additional Information:


    The position's work location is primarily the candidates home, however, there will be limited travel statewide, but candidate will not be driving- they will be a passenger while a state employee drives, and they may be required to periodically come into the office for consultation or meetings.
