Description
The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Health at Children's Mercy Kansas City, in collaboration with the Comprehensive Pain Management Program, is recruiting a pediatric pain psychologist.
The psychologist's role will primarily include 1) providing consultation and follow-up care in an outpatient interdisciplinary pain clinic, and 2) providing individual and group therapy for adolescents during participation in our pediatric intensive interdisciplinary pain treatment program (the "RAPS" program).
This position will primarily support the clinical activities of Children Mercy's expanding pain management service.This includes teaching and supervising in the hospital's pediatric medical residency, psychology fellowship, APA-accredited psychology internship, and/or psychology practicum programs.
The position carries an academic appointment at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, with rank commensurate to qualifications and experience.
1) A PhD (or equivalent) in clinical psychology, pediatric psychology, or child clinical psychology2) Completed an APA-approved internship
Preferred qualities:
1) Fellowship level training in pediatric psychology including evaluation and treatment of chronic pain

Psychologists in the Section of Pediatric Psychology work closely with medical subspecialties to meet the behavioral health needs of children and adolescents with acute or chronic health conditions, and many enjoy leadership roles across the hospital.

The Rehabilitation for Amplified Pain Syndromes (RAPS) program provides intensive interdisciplinary pediatric pain treatment for adolescents severely disabled by chronic pain.
In addition to psychologists, our team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, music and art therapists, massage therapists, and a yoga teacher.
Patients come from across the United States and internationally, and our team is passionate about treating these teens and helping their families.
