    Position Summary:

    Assists Controller with direction and oversight of the UPHS Marquette financial reporting, budgeting,
    accounting, and payroll processes.
    Reports to: Controller
    FLSA: Exempt

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Assists with departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and
    ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
    Assists with departmental operations, including information technologies, service level determination, and
    complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
    Assists with staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing
    education initiatives.
    Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
    Ensures department stays focused on their important role in the continuum of care.
    Oversees the monthly financial close process to meet established deadlines, ensuring all financial transactions
    are properly executed and recorded.
    Assists Controller in ensuring hospital-wide compliance with SOX controls. Consults with internal and external
    auditors, HSC personnel, and Hospital personnel to design, modify, and implement controls, as required.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    Minimum Education
    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance
    Master's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance (Preferred)
    *Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education.
    Required Skills
    Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be
    able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
    Certifications:
    Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (Preferred)
    Minimum Work Experience
    3 years in accounting
    1 year supervisor/ management experience
    3 years in health care accounting (Preferred)
