    Job Description

    The Local Driver position is responsible for transporting products you know and love to local destinations. A key component of PepsiCo's success, Frito-Lay has been making the very best snacks for over 80 years. Classic Lay's, Cheetos, and Doritos are just a few of the products in our portfolio. You will also be unloading product, placing it onto carts, and delivering it via a box truck in compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation.

    To give you a better understanding of our day to day operations, here is a list of some of the more frequent tasks that you would be doing:
    • You will inspect your truck prior to your trip as well as when you return to the facility
    • You will load and unload trailers and deliver our product on carts to Grocery Retailers as well as Frito-Lay Product Exchange Centers
    • You will obtain signature of receipt from the appropriate point of contact upon delivery
    • You may also pick up product due to be returned
    • You will also be completing logs and other paperwork related to deliveries

    This is a physical job. If you have never held a job that requires loading and unloading, know that it can be physically demanding, particularly during inclement weather, or when temperatures reach upper and lower extremes. How much does a box of chips weigh? The answer is about 5 pounds, and Local Drivers are moving up to 50 pounds at once, which is about the same as 6 gallons of water. At times, this also involves uploading dead stack product, which means that cases are not palletized and they are stacked from the floor to the ceiling of the trailer.

    • You are 21 years of age or older
    • You will be required to work on some weekends, holidays as well as off shift
    • You can lift 15 to 50 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation
    • You are able to climb, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and stretch for extended periods with or without a reasonable accommodation
    • You have the ability to sit for extended periods of time, up to five hours daily, with or without a reasonable accommodation
    • You are willing and able to work in an environment that has extreme temperatures, humidity, hazardous/loud equipment, and slippery surfaces

    • Attention to Detail: a sharp eye is necessary because you will review weight limits on manifests and count cases to make sure orders are corrects, as well as using visual aids.

    • Flexibility: Like most of the 55,000 Frito-Lay employees nationwide, you will work weekends and holidays and you will often find that you are working at different times of the day with no set work schedule.
    • SafetyMinded: safety is everyone's job at Frito-Lay. As a driver, you would carry this mentality with you by practicing defensive driving.
    • Coachable: coachable people are able to receive feedback and make adjustments to their process in the interest of efficiency, speed, safety, and other shared goals.
    • Integrity: you help provide feedback on safety hazards, issues with delivery sites and so forth. We regularly audit ourselves so it's important that we do things right.
    • Teamwork: you will encounter team members at our delivery centers, you will speak with managers, and you will partner with individuals outside of our company at retail stores. We are quick to celebrate the contributions of individuals, but we never lose sight of team goals.
