This position is a part of our Community Engagement department and will report to an offsite location and requires Monday - Thursday availability, 2:00 - 6:00 PM.
This role that works with the LOOP Program, which provides elementary and middle school kids a safe, fun place to learn about themselves and the world around them.
LOOP is free in the Grand Rapids Public Schools (GRPS) and offers academic support (tutoring, homework assistance, etc.) by certified teachers.
The program also has an array of virtual youth enrichment activities including recreation, arts, and cultural activities, virtual field trips, and more.
Loop is funded by the 21st Century Grant. The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids currently oversees nine Loop site in the GRPS schools.OUR CULTURE:

The YMCA of Great Grand Rapids utilizes a Membership By Design framework, which is a member involvement and community building model for YMCAs across the country.
These responsibilities can be broken into six steps:
Staff and volunteers encourage potential members to enroll in programs and activities that meet their needs.
Staff and volunteers ask members continually about their satisfaction with a program or activity, track responses, listen to suggestions, and respond promptly in a manner consistent with the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Relationship Building:
Staff and volunteers are open, friendly, and approachable to all YMCA members and participants. Staff and volunteers initiate interaction with and between members.
Education and Conversion:
Staff and volunteers know about and share their knowledge of the YMCA, its programs, its policies, its mission, its values, and how it benefits members and the community.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Site Coordinator supervises day-to-day operations of the school site and for staff, children, and parents of the Loop program .
Must be available for programming Monday-Thursday 2:00 - 6:00 PM.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES
Assist with implementation of the LOOP program and activities
Schedules vendors, field trips and other YMCA Enrichment programs
Provides monthly lesson plans to the Program Director
Provides on-site supervision of the programs
Assists in managing licensing folders
Maintains adequate rosters for program and makes periodic reports
Assists in recruiting, orientating, and enrolling children/families to the programs
Confers with parents regarding facility activities, policies, and enrollment procedures
Confers with staff regarding child's behavioral or learning problems, and recommends methods of modifying inappropriate behavior and encouraging learning experiences
Arranges medical attention for ill or injured child in accordance with parental instructions
Performs classroom teaching duties during absence of LOOP assistant teacher
Ensures the safety of all Loop participants by enforcing safety standards and following emergency procedures
Swims with children during swim lessons
Manages 2-10 program staff
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Association's policies and applicable laws
Audits timesheets
Assists with annual performance reviews
Supports the Association in recruitment of diverse employees and volunteers
Plans, assigns, and directs work; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems
Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids
COMPENSATION
$ $21.14 ; Part-Time; Non-Exempt (up to 25 hours/week)

Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or Associates Degree in Early childhood education, elementary education, secondary elementary, physical education and recreation, child development, child guidance/counseling, child psychology, family studies, social work, or human services and youth REQUIRED; three to five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
