    Description

    Bucklin Tractor & Implement Co. (BTI) is looking for a team-oriented Service Manager with excellent management and communication skills to lead and grow the Service Team in our Hoxie location. A Service Manager's duties include managing service operations within the dealership to ensure customer satisfaction and maximizing return on investment by optimizing service department processes; growing profitable service labor sales and exercising disciplined expense control; and assisting with attracting, retaining, and developing service department team members.

    Position Specifics:

    Department: Service

    Location: Hoxie

    Reports to: Store Manager and Corporate Service Manager

    Supervises: Service Clerk/Writer, Service Technicians, JD Ag Tech Students, Equipment Detail Technicianand Student Interns

    Responsibilities:
    • Communicates and works with service department team members to implement departmental processes that ensure customer satisfaction and tracks the progress of same.
    • Coaches and mentors service technicians, especially those who are new or don't yet have a lot of experience.
    • Works to grow the business, both in service and the dealership as a whole; willing to reach out to both existing and new customers to create and develop positive and productive relationships.
    • Works with a positive attitude and with other departments in the dealership to promote communication and overall growth of the dealership.
    • Communicates with customers on scheduling, creates and communicates quotes, handles customer complaints, follow-ups, and overall communication between the service department and the customer.
    • Assists in the creation of annual location service department goals and budget, in alignment with the organization's financial and operational objectives.
    • Executes service department marketing plan with direction from the corporate service manager and marketing manager.
    • Ensures that all service warranty and Product Improvement Program claims are completed within the required timeframe to receive maximum credit.
    • Schedules and assigns jobs and work areas to service department team members according to their knowledge and skills.
    • Reviews work orders for completeness and accuracy prior to customer billing.
    • Assists in coordinating customer clinics, field days, and related promotional events.
    • Assists human resources and others with recruiting, staffing, and implementing development activities for service department team members.
    • Manages service department team members to ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
    • Assists with the development and training of service department team members and completes performance reviews of service staff.
    • May participate in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge.
    • Operates and oversees maintenance of vehicles, tools, and equipment required to perform job responsibilities.
    • Ensures a clean and safe work area is maintained in the service department shop.
    • Ensures that all safety rules and regulations are followed by service department team members in performing work assignments.
    • Maintains knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:
    • 3+ years of experience working in a service department; demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics preferred.
    • Excellent management and communication skills.
    • Experience leading a team and working cooperatively in a team environment.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with service department team members, other departments, and customers.
    • Experience with ag and lawn and garden equipment.
    • Experience operating vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
    • Experience with basic computer functions.
    • Experience analyzing and interpreting internal reports.
    • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required; associate's degree preferred.
    • Valid driver's license required.
