    JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY


    Under the supervision of a member of the faculty, the Graduate Assistant (GA) OR Graduate Research Assistant will provide academic support that furthers the mission of Florida Polytechnic University.

    This is an OPS position that terminates at the end of the Academic Year.


    JOB DESCRIPTION

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    • Grading.
    • Leading Recitations.
    • Tutoring.
    • General Classroom Support.
    • General Research Support.
    • Assessment.
    • Administrative Support.
    • Clerical Tasks.
    • Participate in research meetings and collaborations.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Strong technical skills in the use of personal computers, software, and various other electronic devices.
    • Strong technical skills in the use of software for data processing.
    • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
    • Demonstrate knowledge and competence in the subject matter.
    • Ability to explain concepts to others effectively.
    • Effectively communicate study strategies to ensure academic success.
    • Possess good organizational skills and complete paperwork in a timely manner.
    • Demonstrate flexibility in assigned duties, be able to move comfortably between different assignments and new projects as they emerge.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must be currently enrolled or attending classes at Florida Polytechnic University.
    • Must have a Bachelor's Degree.
    • Must have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 and have successfully completed 9 credits or more in the most recent fall or spring semesters.
    REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW:


    • This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations.

    TRAINING:

    • Ongoing training relevant to the research will be provided as needed.

    WORK SCHEDULE:

    • Varies and will be determined based on course schedule and research needs.


    A Graduate Assistant OR Graduate Research Assistant is limited to a maximum of 20 work hours per week while classes are in session.

    During semester breaks and summer term, a student worker is limited to a maximum of 40 work hours per week on an as-needed basis.
