    Description

    The Licensed Practical Nurse provides general nursing care to the patients within the LPN scope of practice and following all standards of care and facility requirements.

    Primary Functions


    • Greet and room patients promptly and with courtesy
    • Take full vital signs, as well as height and weight at each office visit
    • Explain procedures to patients to allay apprehension and gain cooperation. Have patient fill out appropriate paperwork before each procedure.
    • Administer prescribed medication, injections and treatment in accordance with approved nursing technique, within scope of practice
    • Prepare equipment and assist medical provider during treatment and examination of patient
    • Chart accurately and promptly in the EMR
    • Initiate patient education plans with patient and family
    • Rotate among various departments and office sites as needed
    • Keep exam rooms prepared, cleaned and stocked; empty biohazard waste
    • Help maintain efficient patient flow through communication with healthcare teams
    • Answer telephone and messages in a timely manner within 24 hours
    • Monitor desktop and send patient letters / make phone calls daily
    • Answer patient questions as needed and within scope of practice
    • Complete 48-hour chart check daily and fill-out appropriate logs as indicated 15. Make lab and specialty appointments for patients
    • Respond to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures and protocols within the scope of nursing practice
    • Complete other duties as assigned
    Education and Experience


    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Completion of accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program required
    • Current Florida License, active and in good standing
    • Current CPR certification
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


    • Understand and strive to maintain teamwork
    • Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare teams
    • Ability to demonstrate organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to work under pressure
    • Possess a good working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records
