    Job Description:
    The Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic accountant to join our team. As a member of the finance team, you will contribute to financial operations, assist in maintaining accurate records, and support the commission's mission.     Examples of Work

    •Process deposits, coding and entering accounts payable and journal entries.

    •Process Employee Expense Reimbursements (ERDs) and travel documents for payment.

    •Review data on vouchers, invoices, and other financial documents to ensure the information is accurate and complete.

    •Work with new and existing agency vendors to ensure proper setup in the state's accounting system and timely payment of future purchases of commodities or services.

    •Prepare journal entries to record accounting adjustments.

    •Assist with pre-audit accounts payable, accounts receivable, and journal entry batches.

    •Run reports; compile data to be shared with agency staff.

    •Provide customer service to agency staff, answer basic questions about accounting processes and procedures.

    •All other duties as assigned.

    Requirements / Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications: Post high school coursework or vocational education in accounting, finance, business administration or related field OR experience performing accounting functions including interpreting and analyzing financial data.

    Preferred Qualifications: Enterprise One experience is preferred.

    Other: This position requires regular, reliable attendance.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    • Familiarity with accounting principles and practices.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.
    • Strong analytical skills and accuracy in data entry.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively.
